We have ours scheduled finally and I'm trying to get ready. I feel like people on this page only talk about the visa interview in Vietnam. Any words of wisdom for us for those who have done the US interview already?

Sent it in pretty soon after arrival. We actually are having a big ceremony after the interview date which sucks. Probably didn't sync up the timing right but no matter. The interview is a few months after arrival.

Hi Tu.

We had our AOS interview in San Francisco, also. Ours was fast and easy. Go over the list on the interview letter. Bring originals for stuff like birth certificates, marriage certificate, passports, etc. The IO will probably want to examine those. After we were all sworn in our IO asked each of the "Have you ever" questions from the I-485, first to Phuong, then Sang, then Ngoc. Our IO spent a lot of time looking at our photo albums, not critically but because she seemed genuinely interested in them.

She never directly asked for any of the "bona fides" evidence, like bank statements, etc. At the end of the interview she said "Do you have anything else for me?". That's when I said I had all of that other stuff, and pulled it out of my file folder. She asked if she could keep it, and I said yes. She stuffed it into her file and handed us the approval notice.

I didn't send a letter of employment with the AOS packet, and the IO did specifically ask for it.

Sai's Vietnamese Restaurant is across the street, corner of Sansome and Washington. The vegetarian fried rice is pretty good!

LOL, we walked by it yesterday, and I thought that someday when this visa journey is finally over we will go there and eat across the street from USCIS.

Hey Jim,

Yours sounded like a slam dunk. I don't feel I have a ton of evidence of mutal assets. I'll need to work on that. I know that Sai's places well. Run by Chinese/Viets and good mi xao don chay

It's not necessary at this point. You haven't been married very long, so they don't expect much. My wife and I had a joint savings account, so I had the statements for that account. I also had a bunch of medical insurance EOB's for her, and mail each of them received at our address. The IO put them into the file without even looking at them. Unless they have some suspicions about your relationship it's not likely they're going to care much about the co-mingling at this point. There's an assumption with K1's that the relationship was vetted, to some degree, at the consulate interview.

We had our AOS interview about three weeks ago. They never looked at any of the evidence that we brought. I thought they were going to ask us questions like which side of the bed do you sleep on, who takes the garbage out, etc but they never did.... However, they asked my wife a few questions from the form such as "have you ever been convicted of crime", etc. It was very easy.

Best of luck.
