Do you need to have a DS 156 WITH barcode or does it even matter?

Hi, the embassy sent my fiance her packet and within the packet are the DS 156 forms. Those forms have no barcodes on it but I keep hearing people say you need it or you won't get approved?

If the DS 156 forms need barcodes then why would they send her ones without it? I'm just kinda confused here. Thanks.

Since the site said you can use the regular form if you can´t print the barcoded one, I didn´t bother getting the barcoded form.

8/17/06 - Korean Consulate rec'd Petition

8/23/06 - rec'd packet 3 from Consulate

8/25/06 - sent packet 3 back to Consulate

8/27/06 - got confirmation email from Consulate, they rec'd packet three

8/27/06 - requested interview date via Consulate internet site.

9/1/06 - Checked internet site for interveiw date, it was there

9/25/06 - Interview date - APPROVED

9/28/06 - Visa in Zaeems Hand - YEAHHHHH

1/6/07 - leaving for USA

1/20/07 - Wedding Date

1/20/07 - MARRIED!!!!!

You might want to double check with the embassy your fiance will go for the interview. I know that in my fiance's embassy, they are starting to prefer the barcoded one since it seems to make the process a bit quicker for them. I checked the Ciudad Juarez website (the website of the consulate my fiance will attend for his interview) and it says that beginning in November they will only take the forms with the barcode. So just double check okay :yes:

The Embassy in Bangkok certainly wants one with a barcode, since that data is already entered into the system. It is simple to fill out online and print out. My advice is to do it that way, since it is also neater than filling it in by hand, and you don't have to worry about there being problems the day of the interview.
