Take the word touch out of your vocabulary and you will be much happier. It is a figment of imagination that every time something happens you will see an update on the USCIS website--it just ain't so, so forget about it and you will be less stressed and much happier.

What Magical said is true!

But most of us obsess anyway :blush::wacko::D

When you create an account on the USCIS website and add your case number you can then log in and check the status of your case. There is a field for "Last Updated" and when that date changes it means your file was "touched" in some way. A "touch" does not necessarily mean anything significant. People have had their case "touched" and still wait months for the status to change. Others have been approved and never touched.

From the USCIS website:

*Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email and/or text message notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

Approved and never "touched" for our petition. I'm glad I wasn't on guard for touches (didn't know about them til I started reading here), because it would have made me crazy.

Oct 6, 2011: NVC process completed
Nov 4, 2011: Interview date assigned
Dec 2, 2011: Interview at Consulate (Result: AP - No reason given on 221g)
Feb 7, 2012: Passport requested by Consulate
(...Husband needed passport for personal reasons during this time...)
Apr 9, 2012: Passport mailed to Consulate
Apr 25, 2012: Visa issued
May 1, 2012: Visa in hand
May 31, 2012: POE at Montreal's Trudeau Airport
Early July: Physical Green Card received in mail. Yes, it's green!

March 13, 2014: ROC filed (went to VSC)

March 17, 2014: NOA

April 22, 2014: Biometrics appointment

December 9, 2014: Case inquiry initiated

December 11, 2014: Response: "The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required security checks remain pending."

March 14, 2014: Received NOA that approval had been given on March 10; expect new GC within 60 days.
