Hi, my GF and I are planning on getting married at some point in the future, there are some complexities on this one...I met her while I was living in TX, and I now live in GA. She comes to visit every few weeks. Since she is working on her dissertation and won't be done until May at the earliest I didn't want to mess around with her student visa. What I'd like to know is, when should we start working on this? We were planning on getting married in her home country sometime in the Apr/May/June timeline but the I-30 seems like cohabitation is expected. Plus, she would be looking for a job post-graduation.

you can work on it now,

then file it when you have a notarial translation of yer wedding book and her birth certificate.

for an AOS case, it's two main forms, the I-130 Plus the I-485,

and yes, co-habitation is expected on this type of AOS.

re: looking for a job post graduation - is this part of her OPT program, at all?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I thought that her being married would be better as for job placement. We were planning on doing it after she graduated since we aren't married yet.
