Hello and Need some help...

Our USCIS application was approved with no problem and our file was transferred to NVC. All seemed to be going smoothly, and we had our interview scheduled. We arrived a little early and were a little nervous.

The questions that they asked do not seem to be typical and to be candid appear to be unfair.

For example:

1) Where did I work prior to my current employer (I have worked at the same place for 13 years)

2) If he is related to my Ex-husband

3) Where I went to school prior to my last school

4) They said that they did not belive the marriage was "real" for the following reasons

a) I had no-one there (a mis-statement since I had 2 friends there)

b) We married too soon after my divorce (we planned to marry during the course of my divorce and were engaged for 6 months)

c) We did not wear "traditional" wedding clothing

d) His family members appeared to be the only ones in attendance

5) They looked at a photo of us in a nightclub and indicated that it appeared to be "staged"

I met my husband in December 2009. Since I met him, we have talked every day on the phone. I have been back March 2010, April 2010, June 2010, July 2010, October 2010, December 2010, April 2011 and September/October 2011.

There is an age difference...I am older than he.

Would appreicate any guidance I can get. I am talking to an attorney and will be visiting my congressman today.

Im not sure exactly how to help. I know someone will come along and try to advise you, but getting a congressman involved seems very logical. Also I do know that whatever you do, you have to do it expeditiously so that your case does not leave the embassy. Another member said that she emailed them and asked for a second interview and they did grant it to her. Maybe you can try that route too to bring more proof (more photos, etc). Thank you for your response and your wishes. I did speak with an attorney and she actually recommended that we try to bring the case back to Los Angeles. Apparently there is a huge bias in Jamaica if the woman happens to be the one who is older. Someone was also telling me to try to get him a visitor visa and bring him over for a few months and then have him go back, to prove that it was not just for immigration. We will be filing taxes together as well so it will help.

In the meantime I am getting affidavits from anyone and everyone who knows of our relationship. I am hoping with all of that, plus the photos, it will be helpful...we are not going to give up. =)

The visitor visa's are hard to obtain these days, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I was always told to keep it at the embassy that way you have a chance of finding out why they need to send it back. I think getting letters are a good idea too. I am 16 years older than my husband and went through the process pretty good. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted. Im glad you are not giving up.

When my husband finished the interview they told him they thought the marriage was for immigration purposes...smh. Unfortunately, I am even older than my husband. I didn't choose this...it just happened. I was married to my first husband for a really long time. They even asked my husband if he was related to my ex...crazy huh??

I will keep you posted. Thank you again for your wishes. I have been pretty much a wreck since this started, but we are both pretty strong.
