Cancelling K1 visa MYSELF, and wanting to travel to the US with the VWP

Hi everyone.

I have a question regarding question F on the VWP application.

It asks "Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa or entry into the U.S. or had a U.S. visa canceled? If so, when and where"

I applied for the K1 visa with my American fiance last year and the NOA2 part (before the interviews and medical exams etc etc) was approved.

I decided to cancel the visa myself because of financial reasons and now I want to travel to the US as a tourist just to visit everyone there. I am confused with the above question.

What am I meant to answer for it. Yes I cancelled my own visa, but no I haven't been denied and it wasn't the US embassy that cancelled my visa. If I was to answer yes, I then do not understand the "if so, where?" part of the question. I wasn't in the US when I cancelled it - I was in my home country. All I did was called the US Embassy and asked them to discard my application and I told them I would reapply when the time was right.

Any help greatly appreciated and if I have been unclear with anything then please tell me so I can try to explain myself better.

Thanks!

You did not cancel a visa, you never had a visa to cancel. You never even had a consulate officer decide on a visa application. What appears all you had was the petition for determination of your eligibility to apply for a K-1 visa.

No consulate decision on a visa application, no denial.

YMMV
