I am an applicant from Kolkata.My case start with BMB...... Can I get my medical done from Kolkata??? or is it must to get the medical check up done from Mumbai??

I was going through this link and I found that I can get my medical done from Kolkata.. I just wanted to check with you guys....

NVC made the same mistake in my case. My case started with BMB but we are from Hyderabad. I spoke with the NVC Operator and got the case number changed to MDR. Because it is MDR, I got October date (the guys from Mumbai that completed their cases before mine are still waiting for interview, where as my wife landed in US yesterday).

I strongly suggest that you do it to get it transferred to Calcutta, as you will get a early date for interview at Calcutta. When you speak with the NVC Operator, confirm the address of the foreign spouse as given in I-130 petition and they will change the center in 5 business days.

08/30/13 - Biometrics Done - No walk ins allowed at this LSC (received on 8/16/13).

12/28/11 - Received SSN (applied on 12/20/11, as we didn't get based on DS-230 options)

10/30/11 - POE - Houston, TX

10/28/11 - Received Visa papers and Passport at VFS

NVC: (90 days from NOA2 to Consulate)
08/31/11 - Case Completed (Interview 10/25/11) - Received at Chennai on 09/19/11
07/22/11 - NVC Case Number

USCIS: (92 days)

6/21/11 - NOA2 (NOA1 on 3/25/11) - took a month to get to NVC

Why not - it is NVC that made the mistake not you. Call them ASAP.

The address provided in I-130 is the basis for providing the consulate. If you foreign spouse moved to an area serviced by other consulate after filing I-130, then you can request a change, by providing a proof of change of such address and also if NVC made a mistake in assigning the right consulate, you can request a change and not otherwise.

I tried calling at the no.

but every time i was answered by some housewife ....... when i called again for the third time she got angry.....I don't know how old these information are????

Is your file still on station at the NVC? If so then you should call them ASAP and get them to reassign it to New Delhi.

If the file has left the NVC, then you will have to contact the Embassy in New Delhi and first see if they will accept your file. If they do, then they will have to send a formal request to the Consulate in Mumbai to have your file transferred.

Ryan I am from Calcutta not New Delhi...they have assigned me Bombay,

so can i ask them to change it to New Delhi?? as it will be a bit closer to me than Bombay.

Anum, if you ask for Delhi you will get it based on your address. In fact it is better to let NVC know it and get it changed. Sorry for confusion regarding Calcutta Consulate.

When we moved to US in 1998, we got interview call to go to Mumbai but by that time we moved from Mumbai to Hyderabad. When we went to Mumbai consulate, they told us that we need to go to Chennai and that they would transfer the papers to Chennai. But since my dad paid the fee (it was different at that time) and as we were in Mumbai just an year before that, they let us go through the interview at Mumbai (Bombay then).
