Is there any truth to a Travel Agent being able to get a Passport approved faster than any normal person at the DFA?

I need someone to go to DFA with my Fiancee to help her with the passport process.

Does anyone happen to know someone in Iloilo who can meet her at the DFA and help her?

I don't think travel agent can help your fiance to get the passport faster. You only have 2 choice 20 working days or 10 working days, same in the agency. If your fiance can do it by herself i think its better.

Good luck and God bless...

Paul,

If your fiancee to get a passport through travel agent, she'll get a green passport. I read something that Green passport (handwritten, that's the kind of passport you're going to get if you wont apply in person and it's not readable by machine) is already phased out. Someone can clarify this and see if it's true. I've heard this with a couple of people.

She needs to show up there in person.

Yes you need someone to meet your fiancee in person or you do it yourself here in Manila. She can get it as short as 10days. DFA Manila is only 15mins far from Manila Embassy.

Disregarding the word "faster" and the phrase "than any normal person." The answer is YES.

Often times using a travel agency is the only solution to overcome multiple denials for petty reasons and clever demands for documents that either do not exist, are burdensome, or irrelevant. Your girl will most likely only have to collect the completed passport in-person at the time of "releasing."

Apart from that you are looking at around P2,600 up to I suppose P5,000 to the agency. I know of two people who paid P2,600 this summer, and for that fee the travel agency helped complete all forms, double checked for all required photos and documents e.g. Live Birth, NBI clearance, old ID's (gotta have old ID's), and waited in line for hours to submit the application at the DFA. Releasing times were at about 90 days.

Most travel agencies that do passports can also obtain other vital records at the NSO for a fee. Live Birth, Annulment, CEMAR, and authenticated (red ribbon and US Embassy notarized) copies of any of those for use in the USA for school or legal purposes.

IMHO, unless your girl or her family personally knows someone who works at the DFA office where she will be applying, or her family is known and considered well-established, has a college degree, and also ID's that are current and also at least 4 years old. Save your headaches and just let the agency handle it.

Good luck.

Hi, Its not that hard to get a Philippine Passport as long as you have the documents required. She needs to go there personally as her picture will be taken electronically.

I am from Iloilo and I can help her to check the documents she needed to submit if you want. You can PM me or she can PM me so I can guide her in docs preparation.

God bless.

Nope. Using a Travel Agent will make you pay more than you should have. Say a Php700+ expense becomes almost Php3,000. NOT advisable.

As long as she has the proper documents, she'll be okay. After all she will have to get her own documents to submit to the travel agency. What travel agency does primarily is just take the documents and you to the DFA.

Since 2008, the passport is now Maroon. Or Burgundy. Whichever you want to classify it. LOL

Passports now are not handwritten anymore. They have an example on WIkipedia on the new passport :D and she will have to have her picture brought on the DFA and they will scan and print it on the pasport. It's not the "baklas" type anymore :D

I am not sure how the process in Iloilo is or how the process is now but when I got my passport in 2008 in San Fernando La Union, I went to the DFA and they gave me an application form and they stamped it with the date on when I will return to file an application. Of course, by the time of the stamped date, I already have the requirements like NSO BC and other proof of identification.
