Hi All,

I followed the specific instructions on the I-134 instruction form which said to have the last tax return filed (my fiancee is self employed and there's a special notation on the I-134 stating only to bring the last tax return. Having said that, I've read on a few threads about bringing 3 years of tax returns and then in some notes it was stated they only wanted the most recent. I already have all of his paperwork and my file is ready to go (interview later this week). Am I safe with what we have - 2010 tax return per the instructions?

Thanks everyone. Funny I struggled with so much through this process because I didn't find this site until "after" I sent in my PKT 3. I sure would have spent much less time on the paperwork  had I had the knowledge from all of you and also the sample forms which I think are a wonderful idea. This will make AOS a lot easier as I'll have a network of individuals with so much knowledge. And let's not forget the support everyone gives on this website. I'm just so thankful for VJ and all it's members!! :):)

Hi All,

Montreal only looked at my husband's most recent tax return- they didn't care about his 2009 or 2008 taxes, although I brought them because I similarly thought 3 years was needed. If you can obtain the other tax returns without much difficulty I would suggest you do so, just in case. They also kept other evidence pertaining to the I-134, i.e. letters from the bank, letters from his employer, some pay stubs, and a printout of his 401K contributions. Since your fiance is self-employed I'm not sure if there's evidence other than his tax return that you should bring. But yeah, the most important thing to bring for the affidavit of support is the most recent year's tax return. More evidence is always better than not enough...

We only supplied 1 year and were fine. His salary and savings were pretty substantial though. If his salary is closer to the minimum, I would say supply 3 years. Otherwise, one year should be sufficient.

I'm wondering if anybody has a had similar experience to mine:

My fiance's last 3 years of tax returns only showed an income of approx 10K. However last February 2011 he started a new job where it is clear from his "year to date" on his pay stub that he meets the income requirements. I'm going to bring a couple of his pay stubs with me and a leter from his employer. However the employment letter doesn't state his income because he is paid hourly plus tips (he's a server a hotel). I also am brining a bank statement that shows he has enough money in the bank to meet the requirement.

Any thoughts on if I should be fine or I should consider a co-signer?

Thanks so much
