Quick question guys, ive been reading that the embassy gives. U a sealed envelope, can u open it or do one get in trouble. I'm asking cause someone today said that she would open that envelope even if you're told not to. When I did my medical the doc gave me a sealed envelope and I submitted it as is; I told that wise person that and she called me a coward. I mean it is our life we should Hav a right to know; we are paying customers after all. Is this 'wise' person leading me in the wrong direction? Or maybe she's jealous that i Hav gotten through so fast and her process took nine years.

It is meant to be SEALED, plain and simple!! If they think it has been tampered with, they won't accept it.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Your entire case file and medical is in there. If you open it you will NOT be allowed entry to the USA because you have TAMPERED with the DO NOT OPEN file. ONLY CBP is to open this file.

If it is opened you are required to return the envelope and all contents to the US embassy to have them go over all the papers and make sure everything is there and not tampered with and they will reseal it in their own good time. Then you will get it back and be able to enter the USA.

Nattychic,

This is the envelope that they give at US Embassy in Manila, I'm sure yours will be similar. Don't open at any dare or you may be turned back at POE for opened envelope. Listen to your instructions not what is here say......best of luck!

On my last flight back to the states, there was a couple in the other line who had opened their envelope. The officer ripped them a new one, scolding them like you would a 5yr old. I don't know what the end result was, but very embarrassing on their part from what I saw. Tell the genius he/she is an idiot.

If the envelope is opened the embassy must reverify the contents. This means either making you return to the country that issued the visa or holding you in immigration detention until the contents can be verified. So you choice is go to jail for the night or pay for a new plane ticket to fly back o the US. Is seeing your medical records that important to you ?

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

The envelope says "Do Not Open". Don't open it.

You're not a "paying customer". Immigration is not a retail store where the customer is "always right". You do what they tell you to do and when they say "Jump" you say "how high".

Good luck with that.

If you want a copy of your medical you can ask the panel physician for one. If they don't give it to you, you can ask at the interview. Opening an envelope that should be sealed indicates it's been tampered with. It would be silly to risk your approval just to "stick it to the man".

DO NOT open the medical envelope (you did the right thing) and DO NOT open the file you are given if you're approved for interview. Doing so would be very very foolish.

Thanks for the comments some of u were kinda harsh lol. I was never gonna open nothing I just felt really low when she called me a coward and the feed back really helped I'm almost at the end of my journey and it would be stupid to do such a thing and it's a good lesson for others on this forum who are going through this process. That person is ignorant and I'll never listen to anything she says.
