Hello Guys!

I have a question on the USCIS website ... specifically the section of the CASE STATUS.

Well, let's go! I'm still waiting for NOA2and to see how my process is, I always get the website > http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

And then I go in the part CASE STATUS and put my number and "CHECK STATUS". It's what everybody does, right?!

Well .. but my question is on the left side of the site and have a few options like this:

Sign-up for Case Updates

Change Of Address Online

Office Locator

Is possible to create an account to see how the process? Is this necessary? What is the "Sign-up for Updates Case"?

It is the first time I thought about it ... if someone could answer my question, I would be very happy!

Sign-up is for case updates via text/email. Also you will be able to see "touches" (for what they're worth).

Yes, it is possible to sign up for an account. but when you sign in, it doesn't provide you with much more information than you already have (perhaps the last time your case was touched). But if you sign up for an account, you can also sign up for alerts via email and text if you wish that way everytime your case status changes, you would receive a text and eamil. That is a lot less time consuming than going to the website everyday and inputing you receipt number to check your case. I found the text and emails to be very accurate and helpfull in my case.

I signed up too...My case wasn't found for like two and half month! I signed up too, did the e-mail alert. Now all I can check is the status by putting in my case number, when I try to sign in, it tells me error (white page with a big ERROR sign)!

To some of those who have or have had an "account", what are a few of the 'typical' messages they might send you?

Do you, or did you, feel it was helpful? Other than not doing the 'check status' thing every day, which seems a good point like Juan says, of saving time.

I still checked the uscis website often when we were getting close to our expected approval time since some have said they signed up for email/text alerts and they never got them even when their case was approved. I noticed that the website was first to update to "approval". About five minutes after I saw the "approval" status on the website we got the email and text. It's useful to be able to update your text message information.

I got several messages...notice of approval, notice for biometrics appointment, notice of interview schedule, notice of green card approval, notice of card in production, notice of cards mailed. I found it very helpful. I highly recommend it.

Help....

... I just created and account, and interestingly,... when I got in there, SOME OTHER CASE RECEIPT NUMBER showed up, somebody elses case no.! Yes, I deleted it, and put my Receipt No. in place.

.... and secondly, when I clicked on the "Yes, Receive E-mail" button, I got a Y, but I kept also checking the box to the left, and clicking on the button to "Yes, Receive Mobile Alerts"... and it would not register a Y, but only a N. (for no!)

ANY HELP?

Keep in mind that several people have stated that the website does not accurately update the information on their cases. IIRC, someone said they are still at the "initial review" stage despite the spouse almost being ready to apply for US citizenship.

Still ... kinda freaky to get in their and see someone else's receipt number.

The bad news: Under "last updated",... 7/28/11.

Surely,.... they're not keeping this site up, as you say, WIS.

It doesn't always work, but by go ahead and create an account to track your case. I opened an account but my case could never be found online. I signed up for email and text notification also. The only text I ever got was Noa 1 and online my case was only found when I got Noa2.

We had an account, but it was useless. We got no text messages, no emails, NADA

I checked my case on USCIS and on the day of my approval, that was the first indicator before we received any texts or emails. Other than signing up for notifications, its kind of pointless! I think it varies with each case how useful it is, but it IS satisfying to see the blue dot move.... good luck!
