Hi All,

I have been selected as one of DV lottery 2012 winners.

Question :

1. My wife don't want to follow me soon to US because she not ready and want focus to take care my baby until age 5. My wife have no problem if I pass the interview and go alone without her and baby. Should I go alone for interview and pay for myself or bring whole family to embassy for interview and pay for 3 persons (me, my wife and baby)?

2. Is that mandatory to answer questions number 10 & 11 in I-230 Part 1 ? I never go to US and don't have closed friends or family to use their address.

You should research where you are going to stay in the USA, even just for the first few days/ weeks. Look at the area you want to move to and search for long stay motels for example, then you can use that address for now.

Your wife and kid don't need to pay or go to interview if they are not coming with/ shortly after you (visas are valid for 6 months after issuance). Keep in mind that if they do not come with you, you need to do a while process of filing I-130 etc for them later, and there is a waitinglist for 2-3 years for them to get a visa.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Dear souleymon & Penguin_ie,

Thank you for the enlightenments.

1. My wife concern about the weather adaptation for my baby. We think no problem to wait 2-3 years more for K1/K2 Visa.

2. Oke, I will do research for motels.

If you don't come together then you must pay for visas for your wife and child later. You will be requied to show that you can support them by the amount of money you are making at that time, the process takes about 3 years so if you want to have them here when your child is 5 take that into account, also remember that you may have other children before then. They want an address to mail immigration paperwork to. You can plan to stay at an extended stay hotel, then when you get a real place update your information. The address you use is where your green card will be mailed to. If you don't have a sponsor in the US and don't have money in reserve you will need to consider how you will handle the support requirement of the DV lottery. You must even prove you are self suffient for the number of new immigrants or have a sponsor and it sounds like the second option isn't going to happen.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

How long does it take to wait for an interview letter from KCC as a dv 2012? I have since submitted my NL1 since middle of August, 2011.

Depends on your number.

@NigeriaorBust

Thx for your advice.

1. I will talk again to my wife about 3 years visa process if they came after me.

2. Let say I only pay 1 weeks for hotel and move to apartment, meanwhile my green card no yet mail. Can you tell me how and to who I update my address after I got my real place to stay ?
