Its not like the UK is a foreign country.

Oh but it is. Very. In fact if you aren't here you are in a foreign country. And it doesn't matter if you are from a high fraud country and get extra AP, it doesn't matter if you live right next door and cannot visit. The separation is the painful bit, and everyone, 'foreign' or not, get to deal.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Just wondering if anyone has seen the movie "Like Crazy" it's not playing in theaters around me but a bunch of my friends in California told me that it's a love story about an American and a UK citizen and their visa problems and what not. It looks really good. Wish I could see it!!!

I am definitely going to watch out for it! Thanks for letting us know about it.

The trailer shows how naive people can be about the system and the consequences of not following the proper procedures. I can't imagine being banned from visiting my sweetie. :(

Currently.... they have issued Ice the incorrect GC and we have tried 4 times to fix it. First time they had us send it to the incorrect address. Second time they said we used an expired form, which was the form they gave us. Third time was "oh sorry we lost the last page, can you send it again?." Fourth time is the gov is shut down. Will this ever be corrected in time for Ice to get the permanent GC? Stay tuned to find out. T_T

OK, but I have to say that the movie lacks impact when the foreign beneficiary is from a VWP country and can come visit anytime they want, and vice versa.

Why not from a country whose good citizens are treated like reptiles when they apply for a tourist visa to the USA? Or one where you are guaranteed a year of AP on top of everything else? I mean, c'mon, UK? It is hardly even a foreign country, relatively speaking

It looks like the movie is about a girl who overstays a student visa.

Even "reptiles" can get student visas.

So the movie does apply to couples from any nation.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

yes i am soooo going to see that movie with my box of tissues all by myself at the movies. I saw it advitise on TV and its showing in the USA (where i live), i looked at the Triller and cried so imma be a mess when i look at the whole thing.

She got a ban on her visa so that should give us who are not dealing with that issue a new look on or process. and yes it's taking a long time but at least it's not taking a lifetime.

Keeping strong...

Well, I'm from Canada, and I had the unfortunate situation of being denied entry and not being able to cross the border for a certain amount of time. So, yeah, I can relate. My fiance and I were apart for two years because of it. I was supposed to be gone for 2 months....so while I certainly feel for the other countries that are given a hard time, trust me, it certainly wasn't easy to be in interrogation for 3 hours while they yelled at me, left me alone for periods of time, and threatened to arrest me... To this day I am nervous to travel even domestically when I had been traveling freely across the US border my whole life. Just sayin'.....

Yes... know what you're sayin' .... I saw that one too!

Hey but wait a minute ... that's not a movie, It really happened :o:crying:

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

people from the UK still have to apply for a visa... we can still be barred from entering the US... we still have to spend months and months apart while we go through this whole process... we still miss our USC fiance's as much as someone from another country.... does it really matter which country the people in the movie are from... surely its all about the story rather than the country involved??

LOL thinks this movie is a love story, it's not. It's sort of bittersweet... I just hate how they portray the movie in a different light in the trailer than what the movie is really about.

Slight Spoilers

Also, the characters are idiots... for one thing the girl is an idiot for being so nonchalant about overstaying on her student visa. Then acts like "OMG! I can't believe I was banned from the USA!" No ######. They make everything so melodramatic too... like constant handwritten notes... who does that nowadays? It's like they don't know anything about Skype or YM video chats. Also, she lives in Great Britain not some 3rd world country. He's educated and could easily get a job in Great Britain and be with her if he truly loves her. It's full of #######. Also, I just find it funny how they seemingly love each other, but try to move on with other relationships... yeah how funny that being in a long distance relationship like MOST couples here somehow is too hard to overcome for both of them. I think that what gets to me about this movie, especially anyone who has been in a long distance relationship, is that they gave up before they even tried.

If this was my fiancee and I and we were put in the same situation... I love her enough to move to her country. I have been with my fiancee for over 6 years living in different countries 8000+ miles away, separated by oceans, etc. Yet some how we managed to still be together. I made trips every year to see her, we talk on YM/Skype, phone/txts, facebook, etc. on a daily basis. I met her family and bonded with them throughout the years. 6 years later I still love her more and more.

The rest of the movie gets frustrating and by the end of the movie you don't care if they ever get will/will not get back together. You're going to be disappointed with the ending because it's not a feel good love story and doesn't compare to what most of us has been through.
