AOS Interview experience in Portland, OR

Another hurdle out of the way!! My husband and I had our AOS interview in Portland yesterday! We had originally thought it was going to be in Seattle, WA since we live in WA state....however two nights before our interview, as we were preparing, I happen to notice the appointment letter had the interview location as Portland...it was a fantastic surprise since we are only 20 minutes from Portland!

Anyway, we arrived about thirty minutes early. Our appointment was at 10:00am. There were only a few people in the room. They were all called pretty quickly and we were called withing about 10 minutes. The female officer thanked us for coming early and we followed her to her office.

The first question out of the gate was about our marriage certificate, she was curious that the wedding officiant was apparently Christian (something we didn't even realize). After asking my husband several questions about this, I finally got a chance to tell her that I found this person on the internet. We had to change our wedding plans several times due to AP so while all that was going on, I found someone who had a little bit of flexibility in wedding dates so I chose her.

She asked us to describe our wedding day and we of course pulled out the large photo album! She went through it and asked who everyone was.

and then, the rest of her questions started flying! :)

1. How did you meet?

2. What website?

3. She asked my husband if he has ever dated other women he met online?

4. She asked him, did you ever bring any other girls to Cyprus that you met online?

5. She asked about my daughter, her relationship with my husband, her age and who she stayed with when I made my trips over to Cyprus.

6. She asked about my prior marriage

7. Why did you divorce?

8. She asked about my ex's husband's friend who I co-sponsored at one point during our marriage

8. She asked what do you mean co-sponsor?

9. Did you and your husband live together up until the time you divorced?

10. How old is your daughter?

11. She asked my husband what he did for work in Cyprus?

13. How many times did I travel to see him? what were the dates?

14. She asked my husband if he is working? where at? what does he do?

15. She asked me if I know anyone else from my work place that went through this process?

16. She asked my husband how do you feel that she is older than you? She pointed out that my ex-husband was also younger than me.

17. What does your family think of your marriage?

18. She asked me if I've met my husband's family?

She then said she had to do some research on the computer, but she would have an answer soon. As we were getting ready to pack up our things, she asked my husband if he had his EAD card with him. He gave it to her and she put it in a plastic bag and stuck it in our file and said, "this is a good sign that I am taking this." My husband asked her if he would be ok at his job if someone came to his employer asking for his EAD and she said "you'll be fine, they usually only take about 4 days to process". She asked us if we had any questions for her and she thanked us again for coming early. We left feeling pretty good, however we weren't sure that we were fully approved.

At about 5:01 pm, we got a text and email notice from USCIS. When I signed on, we had this wonderful message!

"On October 27, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you".... YAYYYY Best news ever!! And to top it off...my husband passed both his written and driving test as well!! We are feeling pretty darn good right now!!:dance::dance:

Hey girl!! Good to see you on here!! :) Suley said these questions were quite similar to those he had at his Embassy interview in Cyprus....I wasn't expecting most of these questions....none of them seemed to phase him since he has been the one having to go through the interviews!! Just happy it's over for awhile...although I am sure I will still stress until the Green Card is in his hands!! Hope you guys are doing ok...it's still shocking to me that you haven't heard anything! Crazy making for sure!

One more thing...she asked us if we had any paperwork for her.....we gave her the following that contained both of our names: several utility bills, bank statement, medical, dental, and life insurance plans...she asked me if my husband was on my mortgage..I explained that he is not because it did not make sense to re-finance which is the only way to add him according to my mortgage company. She seemed fine with my answer.

Hi, did she asked to see the original documents? Like original birth cert , the petitioners proof of citizenship, passport stuff like that?
