I cannot respond without telling you how many guns I own which is none of your effin' business. I will only say "not enough" or "not all of them yet"

YES I do own guns.

Do black powder flintlock muskets count? I used to own a really nice reproduction 1777 French Charleville black powder musket that I used to use in War of 1812 re-enactments when I did a soldier impression to get the feel of being on the battlefield. I sold it to my re-enactment unit before I moved to the US rather than deal with the hassle of importing a firearm into the US, especially as I didn't anticipate having much opportunity to use it down here in Civil War country. I generally fired gunpowder cartridges without projectiles but did fire it live a few times as well. While they are notoriously hard to aim and actually hit anything, ("don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes!") I was successful in some target competitions. It was fun, but I've been there, done that - even got the t-shirts!

btw - 2012 is the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 and there will be a lot of great re-enactments in and around the Great Lakes area of North Eastern US and Quebec/Ontario . They are lots of fun so if you get a chance, try and attend one. I really miss my re-enactments and am going to see if I can get to a few events during this significant year. I still have all my period reproduction clothing - just have to dig it out of storage. :)

I think you would have had an easier time of it trying to important your muzzle loader than say a modern firearm. The ATF would have classified it as an antique firearm. I like them too, though I've never had a flint lock only used percussion cap.

I got the feeling before taking the poll that most people here are more scared of guns than a crime happening to them.

This view will change for some as they learn to take advantage of the rights and liberty we have to offer in the U.S.

My friends from China were very surprised we don't have metal gates on our front doors and steel bars around our windows at home. After a few years of absorbing the culture they also learn to stand up for others where before they only think of themselves.

Lao Po coming soon, I've just ordered the metal gate for the front door - I not want to explain the lack to her.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Have you been to the inner city? In Detroit pretty much every house has a metal bar screen door. Probably cause so many dangerous criminals are carrying firearms.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Or to South Central L.A.

Dangerous criminals carry firearms everywhere. What makes Detroit different?

Dangerous criminals in Vermont carry firearms. The difference is that law abiding citizens can also. Criminals do not need a permit to carry firearms in Michigan. Law abiding citizens DO. In Vermont, no one needs a permit to carry concealed firearms.

Who has a lower crime rate?
