Hello everyone -

Here is my Dilemma....

I ready through bunch of posts and still unclear on what I need to do and would like to hear from someone who recently went through this...

I am waiting for my wife to recieve her new passport with name changed so I can submit the DS230. Without the passport I won't be able to get the local PCC.

The question I have is, once I have her new passport can I just summit the DS230 and sent a note along saying I am currently in the process of acquiring the PCC fro

vadodara and Ahmdabad and will submit the certificate at the time of interview. Will I get an RFE if I don't submit the PCC??

Or I do I have to get the PCC from Vadodara and then get the PCC from Ahmdabad passport office and then send the DS230 to NVC? This will delay the process by 2-3 weeks.

She will have her interview at the Mumbai consulate.

Appreciate your feedback!!

In my case, I had submitted both with DS230.

I think you should call NVC, explain your situation and ask them what to do... because according to the requirements, both PCCs must go with DS230 packet...

I called the NVC a couple of weeks ago in behalf of some friends that are going through Mumbai for an immigrant visa. She told me that the NVC would send the package on to Mumbai without the police clearance. She made it very clear that this is consulate specific.

It's yet to be seen what the outcome is, since they are sending the package to the NVC from India.

Best wishes on your journey!

If your passport is being issued thru A'Bad RPO you CAN NOT obtain the Passport Clearance Certificate without an OFFICIAL notice of visa interview letter from the Department of State aka NVC.

Send your DS-230 packet and state in your cover letter that you can not obtain a Passport Clearance Certificate without an Interview letter in your local jurisdiction and the Passport Clarence Certificate will be shown and surrendered at the time of the interview in Mumbai.

Meanwhile have your wife work on getting the Baroda police clearance cert. It's needed in A'bad to obtain the Passport Clearance Cert at the RPO office.

We have done this exact process stated above and it has worked out perfectly.

In my case, I had submitted both with DS230.

I think you should call NVC, explain your situation and ask them what to do... because according to the requirements, both PCCs must go with DS230 packet...

Ahmadabad RPO makes this requirement different for Gujarati's. Mumbai consulate understands this.

Thank you for your reply!

The problem is she cannot get the certificate from Baroda yet as we have applied to a new passport due to name change. Is it ok to state in the letter that we are currently in the process of acquiring both the local and the one from Ahmdabad and will submit it during the time of interview.

I have the DS230 ready just waiting on the passport. So should I send it in as soon as I have the passport or get the local PCC and send it after that?

You don't even have to state that you are trying to get those certificates.

State the following in your cover letter...

**As per the state of Gujarat, India's jurisdiction, a Passport Clearance Certificate cannot be issued without an official interview notice document from the Department of State. Therefore the Passport Clearance Certificate will be provided and surrendered at the time of the interview in Mumbai, India.**

Send the DS-230 without delay once you get the proper name passport. Once you get that have your wife start working in the Baroda Police Clearance.

Once the paperwork clears NVC and you get an Interview Letter (This can take some time) . Then go get your Passport Clearance Cert. in A'bad.

The only thing your wife can do right now to stay ahead of the game is acquire the Baroda Police Clearance Cert.
