Seems odd all the heartburn over "Bush's illegal war" doesn't apply to Obama when he attacked and took down the Despot leader in Libya.

Is this more evidence of Bush's third term via Obama?

Comments?

The difference is that a mandate existed for the action in Libya which was absent for the invasion of Iraq.

Lets see what that Mandate is exactly.

SECURITY COUNCIL APPROVES ‘NO-FLY ZONE’ OVER LIBYA, AUTHORIZING ‘ALL NECESSARY

MEASURES’ TO PROTECT CIVILIANS, BY VOTE OF 10 IN FAVOUR WITH 5 ABSTENTIONS

Demanding an immediate ceasefire in Libya, including an end to the current attacks against civilians, which it said might constitute “crimes against humanity”, the Security Council this evening imposed a ban on all flights in the country’s airspace — a no-fly zone — and tightened sanctions on the Qadhafi regime and its supporters.

You better do better than that to justify what went on.

Let's do that, then.

Authorizes Member States that have notified the Secretary-General, acting nationally or through regional organizations or arrangements, and acting in cooperation with the Secretary-General, to take all necessary measures, notwithstanding paragraph 9 of resolution 1970 (2011), to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack in the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, including Benghazi, while excluding a foreign occupation force of any form on any part of Libyan territory, and requests the Member States concerned to inform the Secretary-General immediately of the measures they take pursuant to the authorization conferred by this paragraph which shall be immediately reported to the Security Council;

That's what a proper mandate looks like, Danno. And it exists for Libya but never existed for the invasion of Iraq.

Thats what a crack in the door looks like.

DO you really believe our actions were strictly to play neutral protector of life?

Seriously?

Do you believe that there was any way to effectively protect Libyan civilians w/o supporting the take-down of Ghaddafi? Seriously?

Look bottom line, we were flat out attacking this country.... with the goal of getting in front of this regime change.

Your willingness to justify one presidents acts of war when the cases are so close in description is telling.

Our actions in libya were outside the words and spirit of that resolution. (period)

Danno, it doesn't surprise me that you can't see the difference between a properly sanctioned action and a "**-the-world-we-go-it-alone-on-whatever-phony-#######-we-can-make-up" invasion of another country. The fact that you can't distinguish one from the other doesn't make them the same, however.

See,

it's all politics. The U.S. cheered to Gaddafi for decades, knowing what a tyrant he was yet closing its eyes, because he would leave Israel alone. When the uproar in Libya began, the U.S. State Department kept quiet in order to see in which direction the wind would blow. Only after it was inevitable that Gaddafi would fall, the U.S. officially sided with the Libyan people, smiling although knowing that the new government of Libya will most likely anti-Israel, as the majority of the Middle East is.

In this regard, I put Bush and Cheney and Obama in one corner.

Politics as usual.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

When a Socialist wants to have military action it is OK and applauded. When a Nobel prize winner wants to send Americans into harms way he is cheered. It is OK for the U.S. to be the worlds policeman if it is the right party. If the wrong party has a military action then anti war hysteria breaks out.

We understood this and knew it already.

Hypocrites.

Need the list of other countries which joined us be posted..... didn't think so.

None as so blind as those who refuse to see.

So Danno, a number of other countries took action in Lybia, thus killing your premise. A premise unsound to begin with since there is very little in common between the full INVASION of Iraq and assistance in enforcing the no fly zone in Lybia. Scale of military force being just the first obvious difference.

None so blind indeed!
