Hi VJ's,

I have a few questions and am hoping someone has the answers to them. I filed the I-130 for my husband in Sept at the embassy here in Cairo and it was approved the same day. Everything is complete and we have his interview very soon. I read alot of posts on here where everyone is talking about all of the evidence to bring such as chat logs, emails, phone records, etc. Well, i have been living here in Cairo for the past year so we dont even have that. All of the old ones from before are gone...we no longer have those email addresses and Facebooks, etc. What we do have is pictures from my first visit which i stayed for 2 months. I went back to the US and when i came the 2nd time is when we got married so i have alot of pics from the past year. I dont have pics from our wedding as we were married in a cival ceremony at the Ministry of Justice and anyone else who lives here and was married there...yeah you know what its like :o We were planning on our honeymoon then the revolution happened...so we went on ours in March...April and July...yeah we had 3  And, of course i included those pics to bring. So i have pics..including his family members since we live with his parents, both of my plane tickets, and our trip reciepts. Should that be enough? We're not worried about the questions because we truely know everything about each other. So, the other thing i am wondering is that my cousin is the cosponsor. She made over the reqired amount on her most recent tax return. Right now her current income is just over the required amount...will that be ok? What do the look at the tax return or the current..or both? And, does the embassy look at the papers we submitted before they gave us the interview date or do they do it on the day of the interview? I am just kinda worried cuz at the begining of the year the cosponsor was making less money because of less hours worked but then the hours went up in the summer to 40 hrs....Thanks in advance for your answers :D

The fact that you are living here with your husband is way more important than the chat logs and phone calls. We have a similar situation except that we have been married for four yours and we have a daughter. We are not planning to take any evidence other than some pictures. The fact we have a daughter is huge. We saw a difference in how they treated us when we applied for a report of birth abroad and a passport fro her. They are looking for a bonafide evidence and you married the guy and living with his parents for a year during a revolution. I assume you are going to the interview with him and that is also a big help. For those who get married and then go back to the US, leaving the spouse behind, they definitely need the chat logs, the pictures ...etc.

I don't about the support funds. Hope some one else could help.

You mentioned that you filed I-130 in Sept at the embassy. I thought they stopped processing that on Aug 15th. They stopped filing I-130 abroad except for few countries.

When did you send packet 3 back to the embassy? We would like to get our interview by Jan or Feb so we are trying to figure out how long it takes the embassy now after the revolution to schedule interviews.

Thanks and good luck :)

Thank You Emad Desouky for posting all of the possible questions they may ask us. We have gone over them and quized each other many times and we actually know all the answers :D Thanks for your prayers and i will update after the interview...

J.G.I. ~ We were married in December so when our 6 months were up to file the I-130 it was May. When i called the soonest appointment they had was in the begining of Sept. I was able to still file here because i made the appointment before the Aug cutoff time. So i filed the beg of Sept and we got our package 8 days later...we returned it 18 days later..and we recieved our letter for the interview 6 days later...and actually we checked on the embassy's website and we found our case number and interview date 2 days before we got the letter lol...our interview was scheduled 22 days after we recieved the letter :) It seems to me things are moving along here in Cairo. I wish you luck in getting your case done quickly also! And, yeah we were thinking that me being here and living with his family for the past year and me being here at the interview were huge...especially during the revolution when alot of people left. So, i guess we will just bring pics and our vacation reciepts. Thanks for replying and Good Luck and God Bless to you and your family!!

Ayomide1 ~ Thanks for answering and wishing us luck!! :D

I am sure that they overlook the papers before the interview because at our interview they was asking many questions which i felt were to prove intention to return to states..we were asked to show the consular the crba for our son(we took him with us btw)and whether he was us citizen we said yes and she said ok i approve. We had our evidence ready when we filed i-130 the first time because that was what the instructions said but it was never asked of us even at interview stage but i don't recommend going empty handed. what we took was joint lease, joint medical insurance, affidavits from family and friends, pics especially of us with the family but as i said they never ask it but probably because our son was with us both times.

I think it depends on the consular that interviews you regarding sponsorship, truly. We were just merely 800 above the guidelines and had to use assets from my husband and posted a note in our file that my mom also owned her home and if they needed proof of that we could get it for them but felt it would cause us delay in our case and to please let us know if it would be required so at least we would be prepared at the interview but after submitting our papers and emailing them we were told our papers look fine and don't need anything else. We were approved, alhamdulillah!!

I am curious how you got an interview in sept?

try to be positive and trust ALLAH!!

Also we sent in tax transcripts.

Thanks for the info Om&Abo Malik!! Yeah we have pics with just us and also many with us and his family and even me alone with his family members. We dont have anything like a joint lease cuz we live with his parents. When we went in Sept to file the I-130 the lady asked us if we had any pics and i said yeah but not with us. I didnt know we needed them and she just said well make sure you bring them when he has his interview. The cosponsor was over like $4000 over the required amount on her most recent tax return and we sent in her tax transcript. Currently when she figured her income she came out only $400 some over the required amount...but hey it's over so it should be ok right? My husband and I are both trying to keep positive but sometimes worry...him more than me. I told him hey GOD did not have us meet and go through all we have been through for nothing. Everything we have done it has worked out thats why i try to remain positive. I just want this to be done..and get back to the US. You living here must know how it is and at times it is hard...and about the interview in Sept..that was for filing the I-130..i called in May and that was the soonest they had. Because i called in May is why i was still able to keep my appointment to file here. Thanks again for the reply and Congratulations on your husband's visa!!!!

Thanks, well, i really feel that their mostly looking at taxes don't worry it will be ok and yes right about that, this is not all for nothing, just have faith. I feel exactly same. you know that my son's passport was delayed long after i was supposed to be gone home and i had already submitted the paperwork. we was soooo scared that it would be a problem because i put my moms us address on there. i was just trying to make sure that i, not my husband, organized and sent the packet because if he did it would have been a disaster, lol. When i had talked to acs i was misinformed that my son's passport would be ready by then, well it wasn't and i had to cancel the flight i booked. I went to the interview simply petrified but felt honesty is best policy just go in there and tell the truth and explain to them, hey i can't leave my son. Believe it or not consular officers are humans too. Turns out my son's passport arrived few weeks back(long after our interview) and when i went to start booking a flight to go home(my husband was placed in AP) i ran into a problem on the site and have been delayed trying to book a flight. Now i am waiting on refund from airline and received a reply email from embassy that my husbands AP completed, alhamdulillah, it is starting to look like we may all be going home together. Point was to say Allah's hand is in this!! Fear is the opposite of faith :star:

filing direct and living here is strong proof of a bonafide marriage.

i would take in an affidavit from his parents that you have been living with them in place of a lease.
