So why is Visa Journey passing out false information?

and when will Visa Journey update this info?

In line 4 of the guide by Visa Journey it says:

4. Copy of the full Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport. This is used to establish citizenship.

This is FALSE information!

here is the corrict information:

Proof of US Citizenship: You must submit a

photocopy of one of the following:

Valid US Passport - biographic photo page ONLY;

OR

State-issued Birth Certificate; OR

Naturalization Certificate

I moved it because this forum is, as the name says, for site updates, corrections etc.

The full passport is helpful for showing dates when you've visited your spouse, visa if you met working or studying abroad etc.

sure it's helpful and I am going to include mine and include all the travel stamps. But to copy all of the pages is a waste of time if you have many blank pages.

This is for showing you are a US Citizen. So a copy of all the pages is NOT needed like visa journey says in there guide.

OP, care to provide a link to back up your claim? The I-130 instructions from USCIS say the following

What Documents Do You Need Show That You Are a US Citizen?

  1. If you were born in the United States, a copy of your birth certificate, issued by civil registrar, vital statistics office, or other civil authority.
  2. A copy of your naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship issued by USCIS or the former INS.
  3. A copy of Form FS-240, Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States, issued by a US Embassy or Consulate.
  4. A copy of your unexpired US passport; or
  5. An original statement from a US consular officer verifying that you are a US citizen with a valid passport.
  6. If you do not have any of the above documents and you were born in the United States, see instructions on Page 4, "What If a Document Is Not Available?"

In the instructions, it is not specifically stated that only the biographic page of a passport is sufficient.

Your link is embassy specific. When we submitted our application the embassy in the Congo required a copy of both of our passports, even blank pages. The guides are just that....guides.

03/26/09 : NOA1

09/23/09 : NOA2

11/13/09 : APPROVED and visa in hand!!!

Those are instructions that are specific to filing a petition at the USCIS field office in London and are therefore not germane to stateside filers, filers in countries where there is no USCIS field office, or filers in countries with a USCIS field office as that field office will have their own filing instructions.

When filing stateside or having to send a file to Chicago from overseas and electing to use a passport as proof of citizenship, the best way to know for sure if all pages are required or only the data page is required is to ask USCIS for a specific answer.

The VJ MO is not creating low drag, easy to qualify applications, but rather assuming quantity is quality. That works for your average beer drunk, but not civil servants that have to meet daily work product quotas.

So in the grand scheme of things is sending in photo copies of each page a big deal? No. Whats that cost at Kinko's $2!! Lot less than wasting $3000 on a lawyer! We too used a lawyer, wish we had found VJ earlier!! if I were you, I would spend time reading the guides for whatever Visa u are going for (U didn't spend the extra 3 min in updating that, nor ur timeline) to ensure ur Lawyer is doing the proper job! As if you spend the time on VJ, you wil read MANY lawyer HORROR stories!! No 1 cares more about ur case than U!! It is simple as that! The lawyer doesnt care, he is paid, your stuck away from ur loved one! is VJ perfect? No, not at all. We had a very good lawyer which came recommended from a big well known DC law Firm and she still was not perfect! So take some time and read the guides here! They are excellent! They would have to be as many, many, many people use them! And for the record, our lawyer had us send in all pages of the passport.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
