***** OP, I realise you feel strongly about what happened, but remain civil and constructive or your access to this thread may be removed and/or the thread closed. Two posts (and one quoting same) removed for name calling and swearing. Reply to quoted post returned below. *****

I'll ask again, do you actually have an immigration issue (as in you are planning to immigrate to the US) or are you just a blow-hard who thinks he's superior to everyone and needs to vent on the internet to people who couldn't care less even if CBP had inserted a radioactive probe in your rectum?

Sad commentary on what this post has become. I truly believe that the OP thought he'd receive sympathy and empathy based upon his "awful treatment" at the POE and when his post didn't go the way he inteneded, resorted to name calling and baiting of the very people he thought would side with him.

OP - you are lucky enough to have visited some 30 countries of your choosing and we don't begrudge you for that. Most of us have loved ones who do not have the benefit of a VWP visit and we're here to support each other through the process, not to listen to the rantings of a person who takes things much to personally.

The bottom line is that freedom of speech is a God given right here in the USA, but freedom of entry is a priviledge. If your treatment at the border was so offensive you have the right not to come back - none of us would take offense at that.

The reason the OP was pulled into questioning is becoming increasingly obvious with every post s/he makes. Hostility and bad attitude are not limited to words, they are quite apparent in actions as well. I wouldn't be surprised for a second if CBP saw someone acting strange and hostile while waiting to pass through customs and thought "something isn't right - let's see what's going on."

I was not rude when passing through passport control. I got more assertive only when I was pulled aside and faced the prospect of spending hours inside their torturing chamber. I am polite to whoever that is polite to me. The adage " Treat someone how you wish to be treated" applies to everyone including govt departments

I just spoke to my sister who is a now retired USCIS agent. She was flattered to be called an animal, but wants to know if she gets to decide which type. Her choice is a toss up between a baby deer or a gracefull swan. She says thanks for the compliment! .

she is most welcomed

Ideally I do want to get into such an unpleasent situation either. The whole indicent could have been averted had they been more polite and professional to me in there. However, they were not only rude and made criminal veiled threats to assualt me instead I am highly educated and I speak four languages. I have every right to be treated like an educated person.

Oh so you only became belligerent once they pulled you aside for a random inspection?

Maybe if you had remembered to remain calm and polite instead of jumping to the expectation that you would be "spending hours inside their torturing chamber" then your experience would have been much different.

By your own words you immediately set an expectation of a horrible experience and then your attitude changed, I wonder how much you attitude helped your expectations become reality?

Bob – its waste of time arguing with OP he would never accept partially it could be his fault too. Ppl have been polite and have nicely explained him, his reasoning that he has been to 30 countries does not make neither him a special guest nor he is a famous celebrity and even celebrities have to go thru secondary is not satisfactory for him.

He has been calling immigration agent animals and he claims to have more knowledge and knows more than ppl who are trained to do that job.

I was held at my POE too because I was with my husband (USC) and we traveled together a week after we got married in the Philippines. We got interrogated for almost an hour. They kept on insisting that we have plans on changing my status while here because I have with me a copy of our marriage certificate (a just-in-case-it's-needed purpose but really without the thought of filing a petition while I am here). The interrogation started. When I said that yes I quit my job and chose to travel to the US to be with my new husband a bit longer, the officer said: I'm not buying that. You bought a $1,000.00 plane ticket so that you can just hang-out? All I said was, yes, that's true, I don't know what else to say. There were really a lot of questions and it was tiring. 2 officers questioned me, my husband too and even my mother-in-law. We were interrogated separately. The weird part was, one of the officers said to my husband that his mom said that we were gonna file for a petition while I am here, but then my husband said that he doesn't know where his mom got that story but we really do not have plans of doing that. But, when we were released and started sharing about our experiences, my mom-in-law said that she never said that and all that she said was I'm just here for a vacation. It was so tiring. They asked questions repeatedly, twisted some facts and the like. I knew that we might be questioned, but I didn't expect that it would take that long. They even inspected my luggage, purse, his luggage. I have a couple of business cards in my wallet, one of which is my friend's who is a lawyer back home - the officer asked me if he's helping with a case, I said no, he's a friend and he just gave me his business card. They really asked a lot! But since we kept calm and just really spoke out the truth, eventually, they stamped my passport, giving me a 6-month stay.

I'm about to go home in about 2 weeks. It was all worth it, got to spend 3 months with my husband - we just didn't want to be away again from each other just right after the wedding. (hopeless romantics)

It was really frustrating, but they were just doing their jobs. As long as you are telling the truth, no need to get nervous or mad, I guess. 'Cause even if they twisted every statement & question, our answer was always the same. I guess they wanted to hear us say that we intend to change my status here, but they never got that answer 'cause it's not true.

They have their reasons. After what happened 10 years ago, they are much stricter nowadays I guess.

to the OP -

you got pulled over because (pick one)

1. random - today was your day or

2. the count of prior trips into the USA pegged the meter or

3. your name matched a name on a list.

How you handled it, of course, is up to you - whilst in secondary inspection.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I think beligerrent is a very strong word. I am more inclined to use the word assertive. Personally I dont know anyone who spend less than 3 hours inside. Therefore, I am more inclined to believe that being polite to them will be viewed as submissive(I have to beg to be allowed into God's insolvent baby) and I may end up spending 3 hours or more.

Hmmm I made like like one trip every two years on average and have never stayed more than 3 weeks. That shouldnt be issue. My name is extremely rare so I doubt that it will match any list either. Ive googled for my name before there is no match.
