Hello fellow VJ'ers...

Just wondering - for those of you who work regular jobs and have limited vacation time accrued, how much time did you take off from work to spend with your loved one when they first arrived here?

This time does NOT include time spent out of work after your wedding for the honeymoon.

Because you got an untrained clerk and did not ask for a supervisor. K-1s are eligible for SSNs upon arrival until day 76 of the I-94. After day 76 you need to wait for a green card or EAD. K2s MU

K1s are eligible immediately and default classifed as "work eligible" even though they are not, so that they CAN get an SSN right away. Why? Because some states required an SSN to get a marriage lic

I didn't take any days off since I didn't have many vacation days left.

I had taken a trip to Tokyo to join her for the K-1 visa interview and went back again to pick her up.

I had visited Tokyo 10 times in a little over 2 years, so all my vacation days were gone. We figured we'd be in the US enough after she came over and wanted our vacations in Japan. :)

None.

But she arrived on a Fri July 3, which was a holiday for 4th of July weekend. So we had a 3 day weekend then I went to work on Monday. That was a nice welcome for her to America- she got to enjoy the fireworks to greet her to the country.

My fiance hasn't arrived yet but I plan to take at least 4 wks off.

My husband went to work the next day when I returned to the US on CR-1.

03/27/2009: Engaged in Ithaca, New York.
08/17/2009: Wedding in Calcutta, India.
09/29/2009: I-130 NOA1
01/25/2010: I-130 NOA2
03/23/2010: Case completed.
05/12/2010: CR-1 interview at Mumbai, India.
05/20/2010: US Entry, Chicago.
03/01/2012: ROC NOA1.
03/26/2012: Biometrics completed.
12/07/2012: 10 year card production ordered.

09/25/2013: N-400 NOA1

10/16/2013: Biometrics completed

12/03/2013: Interview

I am taking two weeks off when he arrives here and then time after when we get married. Oh I can't wait for the day he gets here.

he arrived Friday night and I went back to work Monday but I did take an extra day off when we got married.

2009/06/19 - 1st NOA 1 (I-129F)

2009/10/07 - NOA 2

2010/01/11 - interview; result - approved

2010/01/18 - received passport with visa in the mail

2010/02/05 - embassy calls and asked to return visa for a "correction"

2010/02/09 - fiance returns passport with visa to embassy

2010/03/09 - embassy tells us we are in "administrative review"

2010/09/07 - fiance receives passport back with canceled visa and letter; our petition has been returned to USCIS

2010/11/08 - 2nd NOA 1 (I-129F ROUND 2)

2011/04/19 - service request response - 6 months additional extensive background checks

2011/08/22 - 2nd NOA 2

2011/10/04 - interview

2011/10/20 - visa received

2011/11/04 - POE

2011/11/25 - legal marriage

2012/07/21 - wedding with family and friends!!
