For your parents to combine income one would complete an I-864, the other an I-864A.

You are on VJ asking about both the I-134 and the I-864. What visa are your pursuing? What stage are you at in the process?

Hello my dad is filling out the I-86A since he will be sponsoring my boyfriend, my question is does my mom also need to sign one because she and my dads file taxes jointly??

Do you live with your parents?

Is your dad filing out the I-864 as the joint sponsor or the I-864A as your household member?

I am doing both, because the consulate in cuidad juarez does know which one i should use. I am living with my parents and Monday is the interview for the k-1 visa!

Only my dad is going to sponsor my boyfriend, so then my dad does I-864A and since he files taxes jointly with my mom she does I-864? is that correct?

Thank you for all the help.

You live with your parents; so you file Form I-864 or I-864EZ. Your father and mother as household members would both file Form I-864A. They file separate I-864A.

You're pursuing a K-1, so you should be focusing on the I-134. The I-864 stuff does not come in until he adjust his status.

CDJ specifically states the the 864 is not required in K petitions. See pages 2/3 >>>> http://photos.state.gov/libraries/ciudadjuarez/231771/PDFs/K1%20PACKET%20COMPLETE%20_July2011%20UPDATES_.pdf

Regarding the I-864, if you are living in your parents' house then one parent as head of that household completes an I-864 and the other completes an I-864A. This gives a clearer representation of the parents' entire household count. Much simpler and easier for the adjudicating officer to understand, and likely to avoid any possible RFE.

Juarez takes the I-134. You fill out an I-134 and provide your supporting documents. Your father will fill out his own I-134 and provide his supporting documents(tax transcripts, letter from employer and pay stubs) plus proof of being a USC (like copy of birth certificate or bio page from passport) or an LPR (like a copy of green card) This is all you need for Juarez. No I-864 or 864A.

Your dad can get his tax transcripts for free and quickly by going to a local IRS office and asking for them. Otherwise make sure you provide copies of his complete tax returns, including his W-2s.
