LAYOVERS IN ACCRA, GHANA

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if there has been anyone (specifically your SO) coming to the States with a layover in Accra, Ghana. What was their experience like? Were there any problems?

Toni, I found another site thru a VJ member ASAPTICKETS.COM I called them and they had a great price on a one way for 1365 but it has two lay overs. I'll call you later to tell you the logistics. They had others as well that were pretty good too. But you know how we feel about layovers for the "HUSBANDS" (SMILE)

Ok that would be fine. I think/hope/pray I found something that would really work great for us (maybe you do too and don't realize it - I know so cryptic)...I will give you details too when we talk.

Perhaps you all try to get a round trip tickets and make the travel date before December 12 and return date after January 10th. You can cancel the other leg of the ticket, you might be charged a cancellation fee of maybe $250, and will give you a credit for he remainder of the cost of the ticket which can be used for travel later date but within a year and see what the total cost is. I have not tried this but it's just a suggestion maybe it will be about the same or slightly more cost for one way ticket.

While I have never travelled thru Accra, Ghana, I would not worry too much about layover there which I believe is not more than two hours(assuming United Airlines) and no plane change. Nigerians and Ghananians are no stangers to each other and we both have English as our Lingua franca. Don't wrry about him, he will be fine.

Some year back while i was coming to the united states, i had a 2 hour layover in Accra and the place was just like Lagos, I was at the airport, i did not go into the city though.

They speak English just like in Nigeria ,though with a different accent ..He should be fine

One more question...do you know if he has to have a Transit/Airport Visa?

I don't believe so since he is not leaving the airport to go into the city...if he has ECOWAS passport he would not need any visa if he has to leave the Aiprort.
