Hi team,

My husband (Canada) and I had our AOS interview yesterday in Los Angeles.

Our situation is common:

- He entered the USA on a student visa in Dec 2009

- We began dating in 2010

- Married in March 2011

- Filed to adjust status from F-1 to LPR in April 2011

- EAD issued Aug 2011

- Green card issued Oct 2011

After a goof in which we had to provide his translated BC in an RFE, we had EAD interview in August and the EAD was mailed one week later. According to USCIS.gov, his green card was ordered last night after the interview even though we were sent home with a letter stating that additional review was required (without additional evidence needed).

Some things worth noting:

- Arrive early to 300 N. Los Angeles St because there is a security line that takes 30 minutes to get through

- Bring food and water

- Do not bring cell phones or cameras

- Interview was scheduled for 9:30 am but we were not seen until 11:00 am

- Two interviewing officers were present. One appeared senior and one in training.

- I was removed for attempting to help my husband find a document in a folder during his round of questioning

- He was removed for saying "Oh, I forgot that" during my round of questioning

- Neither of our parents attended our wedding, which was at the local courthouse

- However, we provided many photographs of us with both parents and with each other's parents

- Aside from standard timeline questions, we were asked:

* "What activities do you do on a regular basis with your spouse"

* "When was the last time you did that activity together"

* "What did you do for your spouse's last birthday"

- We were not asked about favorite colors, foods, or about scars, the layout of the home, occupation, or income

A few questions for you folks:

- Is approval certain because Uscis.gov is in "card production ordered" phase?

- What is the next step we must take

- Should we expect a follow up visit, call, or interview?

Thanks for the wonderful resource!

Addendum: The interviewing officer was bothered that we did not bring my husband's F-1 documents, such as I-20 or I-94, even though we were not adjusting from student visa. It was relevant because it was how he initially entered the USA.

This whole immigration thing is crazy. When I went to the interview for my green card I had a huge amount of supporting documents. I didn't even need them. I was interview by one person and all he asked us was: how did you guys meet? and that was it. I was interviewed in Detroit,MI

If your status changed after your interview to "card production ordered", then you were approved. Congrats! You will receive a couple more status changes, which sometimes seem to go backwards in nature but they are normal. You should receive a welcome letter and green card in the mail soon.
