Congratulations, file asap, do not leave the country until you have an AP. If you leave you will be considered at giving up your quest to be in the USA.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Hey no worries! He's not going anywhere now! But yes, please do file for AOS asap since it will mean he can work, and yes, remember he CANNOT leave until you either have AP (advanced parole-a document that allows him to travel and come back) or greencard in hand. So, yes, you have time, but don't forget to file in that time! They are right, if he leaves before you have either of these things, you will have to do the visa process all over again, including the money, before he can come back. Congrats on your wedding!

Check out the AOS guide under "guides" at the top. It is very useful, and filing AOS is much easier now that K-1 is finished!

good luck!

So, if my fiance/future wife wants to leave after we're married so that she can go back to her country to live, pending I can find a job over there (because I want to live over there), then we have to first file for an Adjustment of Status? How long does that take? What is the process again? I talked to USCIS about this before, and they told me that if she left before getting her green card then we'd have to re-apply, but under the K-3 application.

You should not be applying for a green card if you do not plan on living in the USA.

The green card is for living in America.

So, once the marriage occurs, how long do we have before an I-485 has to be filed?

How long after the I-485 do we have to wait in order for her to be allowed to travel outside of the US without advance parole?

485 filed as soon as you have 1070$ and the proper documents.

3-4 months for AP and 5-6 months for green card. Some people are never issued AP and end up waiting until they have the green card to leave.
