Texas Gov. Rick Perry defended his decision to raise the 'birther' issue during an interview with Parade Magazine published over the weekend.

"It's a good issue to keep alive. It's fun to poke at him," Perry told CNBC's John Harwood in an interview airing this morning.

In the Parade Magazine interview, Perry said he does not have "a definitive answer" to the question of whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States, and proceeded to recount Donald Trump's doubts about Obama's birth certificate.

Former Bush strategist Karl Rove criticized Perry on Monday for associating himself with the "nutty" movement.

tuesday..i'm guessing he's talking about the 20% flat tax perry is going to propose in south carolina today. or the posible dumb sh!t he's likely to say once the crowd gets fired up.

it's an optional flat tax. so turbotax does your taxes the old way (with all the old deductions and credits and loopholes) and if your rate comes to less than 20% you stay with that.. if its over 20% then you go flat tax (and fire your accountant).

yah thats all good & well. whats he gonna say when the crowd cheers?...probably something he should keep to himself. then rove will grumble, shake his head, & look down in disbelief...perry reminds me of a republican biden sometimes.
