Not that expensive but still money. I hope all goes well and while i understand the embassies concerns On fraud there is no reason to be rude esp when everything is gut feeling. It is more inexcusable that it is the filipino cos are usually like that

Yes, it was P2200.

We had to pay 2000Php for a Psych Evaluation on a deaf 2 year old because he didn't speak!

Stupid of course because there are no services available to help a Deaf Child develop communication there but 2 years later I don't really care because in the end they got here and he is now hearing a communicating!

While it's easy to be annoyed about these things we should remember that there are some cases that are rightfully derailed when they can't pass the additional scrutiny so in the end while it's inconvenient it is for the protection of the general good.

The additional scrutiny is welcome, but direct accusation without concrete evidence and rudeness is not. It happened to a friend of mine where he was told face to face that "maybe your BC came from Recto". Filipina CO. She could have said "we will check your documents for further validity".

Imagine that happening in US?

Well, things are not going real good now. As I have said before, my fiance' didn't have my original divorce papers on the 7th when she interviewed. I DHL'ed them ASAP and the embassy called her in a few days later.

At that time, all hell broke loose and they started accusing her of being someone else, asking about our sex life and intimidating her. According to them, someone with the same last name applied last year and was denied. The Filipino CO was convinced it was her and even said this other person was using my girl's passport photo. This was impossible! I think they even showed her a form with this other's name and my girl's picture that they had manufactured.

The embassy requested a female exam to prove my girl hasn't given birth to verify her identity. Apparently, they believe that the other person actually has kids.

I feel like they are prosecuting her for some unknown reason. It was determined that there would be a three week wait for review. I don;t feel good about this because I think there will be another excuse and denial after the wait.

Jim

Jim,

Knowing many that have gone thru the process and reading everything in the book about it, I just want to point out to keep an open mind. Something does not sound right. I find it hard to believe they talked to her like that . Of course I could be wrong. Just be careful buddy.

I do not find it hard to believe esp that he mentioned that it's the Filipino CO. I have a friend who experienced same rudeness from a Filipino CO (though different circumstance). The precaution is understood. What is off is how they "handled" it.

Well I wrote the following email to the embassy today. I felt I had to do something.

To whom it may concern:

As the petitioner, I continue to support the K1 visa application for beneficiary Mxxx Sxxx. I feel that Mxxx may not have expressed herself fully during her second interview. I have found her to be a very shy person that is easily intimidated by authority. I truly believe that she was being truthful, but unable to convey that due to being very upset. I have gotten to know her parents and sister during our application process and they are genuine, honest people. Mxxx and I love each other very much. I pray that you will consider all the information and give us a chance to be together.

Sincerely,

xxx x xxx (Petitioner)

Hello ! While reading your message to the embassy, I truly admire your love and sincerity. Your Fiancee is innocent until she is proven guilty and at this time she really deserves your untiring support. Don't worry too much, the Truth will come out naturally. I'm sorry to hear about your case and all the accusations to your Fiancee. I'm sure things will clear up soon. Hopefully it would favor to you and your fiancee. However, no matter what - just bear in mind, everything happens for a reason. You may not know it now, but I'm sure you will find the answer later. Have FAITH that it will all work out for mutual benefits (you, your fiancee and the US embassy in fighting FRAUD). God will enlighten up your case. Always be hopeful :)

Sorry to say that there is a sign in the Manila Embassy (visa area), and its meaning is that you are presumed guilty until proven otherwise. (words are a little different, but meaning is clear)

Well, we are going into our third week of waiting. The CO said three weeks, so something will happen soon. My email was returned with a stock answer that said the case was being reviewed and she will be notified.

I know what it does to your insides, so good luck and you have our empathy.

it is for the protection of the general good.

I realize this is the rationale offered, Bob4Anna, but I respectfully disagree.

There are tens of millions of illegal immigrants, and that's pretty staggering given they give so many amnesty. The New York Times estimated three million got amnesty in the 1986 Immigration Control Act, and it is going to happen again. The 9/11 highjackers came in on student visas. Anyone wanting to blow up a refinery or derail a train can just walk across the Mexican border like the millions of others.

We recognize that we cannot change the immigration law, and to get her permanent residency we are going to be obedient servants of our masters regardless of how utterly stupid and counterproductive it is. But we at least want the dignity of refusal to agree liberty is slavery. The immigration law is mostly an expensive hindrance to honest and decent people, but not much of an impediment at all to people with murderous designs.

The founders stressed what constitutes liberty - ancient principles like Habeus Corpus, jury trial, innocent before proven guilty, rights prohibiting search and seizure, your privacy, assembly, etc. It is the illegals who are protected from invasion of their privacy. For the legal immigrants, the government has huge files on us: where we live, what we do, who our relatives are, how much money we have, etc. With that social security number, they can seize our bank deposits without even telling us anytime they feel like it.

If you travel in a lot of different countries then you can see with your own eyes and experience first-hand. You don't automatically say "it's for our own good" when you can see how much better other countries are doing the same thing, or even your own history for that matter. My immigrant forefathers got on ships and came. They did not fill out voluminous forms, wait in line at various offices of government, pay money (other than passage) in multiple rounds of begging their masters to be let in.

Look how they have created additional layers of temporary "permanent residency": the words do not mean what they say. I object to living in Orwellian double-speak. I do not have to agree it is for our own good.

I object to spikedog's treatment. I do not condone it as for his own good. We see so many petty tyrants in these various offices - and not just in the Philippines. From the Division of Motor Vehicles to Customs and Border enforcement, IRS, zoning board - its everywhere you look.

rlogan,

I agree with most of what you said but we can't justify removing the Immigration Process by saying so many are here illegally already. Fix the illegal problem by enforcing the laws we have not opening the floodgates.

I do believe we need to have gatekeepers. I also believe that the process could be improved. I don't condone anyone being treated disrespectfully.

I'm a realist, we can't live in an ideal world so we have to each determine how much of our ideals we can compromise and find a way to live within those limits.
