If you want to send an original, get two copies or more. All originals must be presented at time of interview.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

The US Citizen's Chinese police station registration is NOT a requirement but if you have one showing he was registered at your address, I would take it to the Gong Zheng Chu for translation, then just scan all the pages and email them to him to include in the petition package. It will be excellent evidence along with photos and other items.

For the petition, only copies are needed for such documents. Scan and email is equal to a photocopy.

Probably best to think in terms of the IR1 visa instead of the K3. K3 doesn't save time anymore and hasn't since late 2006.

For a K-3, the original is collected on document intake day, one day prior to actual interview day.

For an IR-1/CR-1 - the original is collected at NVC, sent along with the DS-230.

IF you've opted in to NVC Electronic Processing, chasing after an IR-1 or CR-1, then a SCAN of the police certificate is emailed off with the scanned DS-230 and other scanned civil documents, and then the ORIGINAL is shown on interview day.

[edited to add]

Unsure if/when USCitizen presents a Police Clearance Certificate from China, in this process. The above advice was solely for the Beneficiary, not the Petitioner.

She's talking about the US Citizen's police "registration" not "clearance". If you're staying in a private home in China, you should register your stay with the local police office. Most don't do it and I never did until I wanted a Chinese driving license. Showing that the USC registered as living/staying at the spouse's registered address is great evidence of relationship, equal to putting a name on a lease, joint bank account etc.

Note that although this "registration" is a technical requirement, it is seldom if ever enforced. I never worried about it because of my wife's family's connected status in their province and their assurance it wasn't necessary.

Since the actual police registration would be in Chinese, it's useless without the Notarial translation. (White Booklet)
