call twice a week - you might have some movement, DoS Hotline knows all.

I am calling them everyday. Sometimes, even twice a day. But they only tell me the status of the casefile which is "Pending Administrative Processing" and when I ask them any further questions, they tell me that they are not allowed to give any information out. I ask them questions like..when was the file recently updated or has there been any changes in the casefile?...

sometimes i get lucky with these answers if i get a good rep...otherwise its just "we are working on it"....

Thanks for letting me know that the DoS Hotline knows everything...they sure act like they dont know anything...=/

I really appreciate your reply.

you can dig a bit - sometimes you get the answers:

1. what are the prior 3 casefile status thingies and the dates they happened?

2. is any record of the FBI report being finalized, or no?

3. What date do you show that the FBI report actually made it into the IV Unit ?

4. What date do you show that the FBI report was requested by the IV Unit ?

keep a track of the answers, each time, make a log,

as sometimes the answers do change, from call to call.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks for the idea. I just made a log in excel spreadsheet. Do you think they will answer all of these questions?

all on the same call? never.

But you might get a wise guy, who'll say, 'You've been at VJ listening to Unca Darnell again, haven't you?'

lol..i'll be like YES

I guess you are right. They won't answer in the same call. But there is one thing I dont understand. I called them once and they said the last time the file was updated was 4 Nov...that made me so happy.and then when i called again later on...the lady said the last time the file was updated was sep 30 which was his interview date. So i was like nothing has been done since his interview right..and she said yea...i told her that i had called earlier and the rep told me that the file was updated on nov 4 and she said does not see any dates on the system. I don't know who is lying and I dont appreciate that at all. They need to be honest with people. Now I dont know who to trust...the nov 4 lady and be happy that his file was updated recently or the rep who said nothing has been done since his interview. =( Is that normal that the dates changes? or the rep would lie to get the phone call over with?

We called this last week and asked your question #2. Actually got an answer... they told us that it hasnt been finalized and they are working on that. Since we already knew after the last week in july that we were going into name checks that gives us a little hope that it may be finished within the next month or two... (praying it will anyway..)

I agree Faki that depending on who you get on the line will either do their best to help you or keep you in the dark. :( 5 months tomorrow after interview... 4 months after we were told our case was fine and now they will start the name checks...

Eh - just remember yer dealing with humans who may or may not have sufficient training.

They can only 'see' what's in front of them - sometimes they need to get to page 2 , or 'another screen' on their computer, but if you keep asking these questions, sooner or later, you'll get meaningful answers.

Keeping a log is important, IMO, as you get some concept of flow, throughout the process, and also a concept of 'which reps are brain dead'.

Keep at it, and Good Luck !

not really...he was asked like normal questions...things like..what am i studying here...how many siblings do i have....my home address and stuff like that

he said the interview went pretty smooth...but thats what i don't understand...if everything went well then why 3 months...i guess i am not the only one..

You are not alone! My husband and I are going through the same thing. My husband is from Tunisia. His interview went well and they told him to come back on the following Thursday to get his visa. His interview was Oct. 31 2011. He returned that Thursday and they acted like they didn't know why he was there and in the end told him he would be contacted by email. We called and they said he is in administrative review. We keep calling to find out the update, still in review. They said this could last 4 week's up to a yr. there is really no time to go by. Try calling the dos to get an update on friday's and you may want to get your local senator involved. We are thinking of taking this step. The consulate and the dos will not give any reason's of why they put him in review. It is very frustrating and heart breaking to go through this but know you are not alone and in the end you will alway's have your husband no matter what. You have to be patient and stay strong! I will keep your family in my prayer's, I wish you a fast process and that you will be reunited with your husband soon! rose.gif
