Every now and then I see post/reply saying call your CONGRESSMAN on others post. Can anyone tell me what the CONGRESSMAN can do? Just wondering if anyone has ever went through their CONGRESSMAN.

If the case is over the processing time by a lot. Then you would contact your congress person or your senator. They would then look into the issue with your case for you and sometimes that can help push your case through.

Every Congressman and Senator ( federal, not state) has an office that deals with immigration issues. As an example when we called the consulate to set up my wife's son's visa interview they said they lost the paperwork and he cannot get a visa. After I filed a host of paperwork to my Congressman showing they had the paperwork before and we did everything correctly, my Congressman's office called the consulate, the DOS, and a week later the consulate "found the lost papers". They can be of great service if...you have a legit problem..you can show evidence of your issue...and you do not make a pest of yourself. Calling them because you are impatient because some paperwork is a few days/week over some arbitrary time line is wasting your time and theirs. A month or two late and yes..give them a call.
