Hey guys,

I plan to be with my fiancee for her visa interview when the time comes. I just want to hear from everyone who attended their fiance(e)'s visa interview in Manila...

Can you elaborate on your experience?

Were you allowed to be next to your fiancee during the visa interview or did they make you wait in the lobby/waiting room?

Did the consular officer asked you questions as well?

Just want to be mentally prepared. I don't want to go in and look like a deer in headlights....

you can attend but if your allowed in the interview room or not will depend upon the CO. In our case I did attend but was unable to be in the room. But Trisha in the course of the interview was able to mention that I was in the waiting area.

It was still worth going just to provide a shoulder to lean on. I would do it again.

If your paperwork is in order, the interview will be over in less time than it takes a hungry man to eat his dinner. :)

So true. it was less than 10 minutes and I timed quite a few that day. The average was under 10. A few went to around 15 min.

Just have your paperwork together.

I went to the interview with my wife, and the CO allowed me to sit in the room the whole time during the interview. Most of the questions were directed to my wife, but near the end she asked me about my ex-wife, and I told her a little about the story, and then she smiled, and said I wish you better luck this time, and said we were approved. I truly enjoyed being there, and going through the process with my wife.

My fiance was with me for my interview. You'll be allowed to enter and be with your fiance/wife the whole time. Just bring your US passport with you. Don't worry, you'll be fine. Since you're there, they'll also ask you questions. They'll ask about your job, how you met each other, but mostly it'll be "Yes/No" questions. Just make sure all your documents are ready. Most important is the affidavit of support and supporting evidences. Good luck!

I did attend the interview with my fiance (now wife of 4+ years). I was surprised to be the only petitioner present with that particular batch.

In my case I was invited into the interview room and was asked a couple questions by the consul. The questions were similar to those asked by other folks that I met in the Philippines: What is my work, how many times had I visited PI, had I learned any Tagalog, etc.

I would encourage you to attend as you plan. My wife could have have easily handled the interview on her own but I think she was much less stressed and nervous with me there.

Best of luck to you both.

I think most K-1ers are allowed to attend the interview. I'm not sure about the spousal visa people.

I didn't attend Chinook's interview because we wanted to save my vacation time for when she was here in the U.S.

Also, Chinook was supremely confident that she could take care of business on her end of things. And she did.:luv::thumbs:

I was there for TinTin's appointment at USEM. However, was NOT allowed in the interview room. As others have said, it all depends on the CO you get. Some are nice and others are ..well..grumpy. TinTin's was definately Grumpy! That said, it was only 10-15 minutes long. I was still glad to have been there with her.

Warm Regards,

Samby

Wishing Everyone Speed, Success, Happiness and Love,
