i use to work in burger king (way back when) and the hard part was the cash register. they might try you out in all position and if it's difficult for you they might just have your cook. when i was there, there was a lady (from mexico) who's english wasn't great but she understood enough. they tried her on the cash register and drive-by-window but it was hard for her so they put her in making the food. you'll be ok and your english will get better.

from what you posted here you will be fine.

Just relax.

Most Fast Food chains are just fast paced you will be fine.

Your hired but you will be trained and they will instruct you to everything.

Just concentrate and pay attention and you will be fine.

Almost anyone can do fast food jobs even non english speaking people as they will learn what each item is.

Don't stress to much on it. If you stress to much you will fail.

Just be relaxed and do your best.

Everyone is super nervous on there first job.

I guess you filed your aos already and got work visa or green card to be able to work.

I say that because your signature is not showing that.

err forgot that signature is there.

you'll be fine sis dont worry about your language u are just stressing yourself. and beside's they will train you before u will start, and mostly in the fastfood here u were just gonna ask them what's there order and its all there listed in the catalog, and mostly the customer will gonna tell you what they want and u will just gonna ask them, what kind of food they want, flavor, in or take out the food if u are in the cash register. just relax u will be fine. Gudluck to your new jod and Godbless!

It's normal to be nervous but hey, remember they hired you so they saw something in you that you should be confident about -- you can do it. The job might be fast paced but I'm sure you'll be trained for it. I would suggest study & learn the American English accent. I'm sure your English is fine but understanding Americans is quite difficult especially if you haven't been there for a long time. Try to search for online tutorials on American English accent. Good luck on your new job!

Don't stress out too much! My first job in the states was working as a cashier in a fast food restaurant. I was able to speak 10 words in english  and most of the times I had a hard time to understand orders. So what I did was I went to other restaurants and pay attention every word, every mannerism and I think that helped me out a lot. Don't be afraid just be yourself, be enthusiastic and don't take too serious if someone is rude with you at work.

First of all, congratulations for getting a job!

This is what I'm going to tell you:

You are lucky to have gotten a job from a legit American company.

Why?

1. You will not be subjected to gossips from out of status Filipinos who would be envious of your status

2. You will not be subjected to Filipino companies which do not follow overtime pay

3. You will not be subjected to Filipinos making fun of your accent!

I noticed that Filipinos like to make fun of fellow Filipinos' English instead of correcting them.

When you're at Arby's, be confident to speak in English because hopefully not a whole lot of Filipinos will be there to police how you talk. Every American you talk to, use them to practice and hone you English skills. Don't be shy!

Good luck on your first day!

It's not too bad! You will be busy pretty much at all times so the shifts go by fast.

Just get your education and keep the job search up.

You could probably find an internship or a better job if you just keep looking.

Try not to stress too much! Presumably you had an interview, in English, so if your English wasn't adequate it's unlikely you'd have been hired. Plus, it's really common in much of America for food service workers to have English as a second language. You will pick more English up quickly, in fact the fast pace might help you. :)

Actually, I have the same problem as you. In spite of the fact that I got my english degree and people around me knows me well says my english is fine... I know I should be more outgoing and not too much self conscious.. but it's really hard in reality. Anyway, good luck on your job hunting!

Lol you will be fine ! I was also nervous at the first time I got hired at my job right now. I work in a restaurant of marriott hotel. First they put me in a hostess area of the restaurant.. I'm even scared to picked up the phone everytime it rang, I have to asked my co-worker to answered it for me  . Then I got used to it and more confident with my english. I can even say, I speak more fluent english now than typing it here in the internet LOL. I been working for 2 and half years now in same hotel and already been moved in four different position lol. Just relax and be happy that you got a job ! I bet in 2 weeks you already used to it. Good Luck ! :)

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.
