How to Pay "After" Scheduling Interview in Montreal

Hi Again Fellow VJers .........looking for your help once again. I feel like I'm on that show with Regis .....can't recall the name - but where you were able to "call a friend".

When I scheduled my interview (Montreal) I chose ready to schedule but didn't pick the K-1 option - so no payment was required.

Questions: 1) Can I pay the fee before my interview (Nov 4th)? If so how?

2) If not and I have to pay at the Consulate - where and how do you do this? I don't want to be delayed because of it. (btw...my interview is at 1:45).

Thanks everyone! :)

I tried to pay before I booked the interview but was unable to by phone or on the site so we paid at the interview and it was no problem at all.

When you are called to the first window to hand in your passport and photos they ask if you have paid and if not you are given a slip of paper to bring to the cashier (the same window you get your number at when you arrive on the 19th floor) to pay and get your receipt which you hand in when you are called up the second time. You have to pay in cash.. either U.S. dollars or the Cdn equivalent. We paid in U.S. dollars to keep it simple. There was no delay at all, we had time to pay and still had a 10 minute or so wait until we were called to the second portion of the process.

If your appointment is at 1:45 I wouldn't recommend going to the consulate first thing in the morning or you will likely be asked to come back later.

It really is the easiest part of this whole process, just as everyone said it would be.

Safe travels and good luck!!

I don't have my packet 4 handy but I am pretty sure that if a K1 pays the fee at the interview it has to be in USD- CAD is not acceptable. It should be possible to pay the fee online after scheduling an interview but I am unsure how.

As always, thanks Pocheros! I think I'll follow Shirley's advice and pay when I get there. Sounds pretty simple. :)

Thanks Shirley Ann! I will do that then, pay there. I feel like I've been gathering papers and preparing for this interview my whole life. I bought a 22 pocket folder at Staples and it still wasn't enough and some things are doubled in pockets.

With Christmas just around the corner, that song keeps coming to my head ........ "Makin' a list, checkin' it twice......" Although it's been checked more than twice and I'm sure I'll be checking it many more times before the interview. I'm now glad my appointment is in the afternoon as I don't imagine we'll get any sleep the night before.

But as you and others have said, the interview is a piece of cake if you're prepared and organized..........then we can join the rest of you and do our happy dance too!

Guess I am going to have to pay when I get there too. I couldn't pay beforehand either and I was worrying now that I had my appointment scheduled about how to pay.

I know what you mean. We didn't get much sleep and had the long drive back to Niagara right after the interview..

As long as you have everything organized it's a piece of cake for sure. I had way more than I needed but if I hadn't taken it they would have asked so more is better and safer for sure. You'll be happy dancin in no time!

Enjoy Montreal if you have the opportunity to see any of it while you're there. :-)
