SSN for K1 Visa holder

My fiance has been here for two weeks now and our plan was to go and get her a Social Security Number tomorrow. I am looking at the SSN guide for a K-1 Visa holder and I am confused about the two forms of Valid ID. We have the Passport with the Visa and I-94 in it. Will we need to bring another form of ID?

Yes, passport plus another ID like drivers license from the other country. Needs to have picture on it.

Brought my passport + Canadian drivers license.

The state where I live only required Pui to have her passport and her I-94. Also the social security office we went to was really busy and we waited over an hour. When Pui's number was called I was talking with the guy processing her information and he said that office is always busy on Monday's and Friday's. We went there on a Friday. Good luck.

Not in my state, required 2 picture IDs.

SSA is a federal agency so the requirements are not state dependent.. my wife used only her passport as it was the only id she had at that time. if they needed two she never would have received her SSN

Take your Passport which has photo. That's enough.

It really depends on the state. In California, all they asked for was her passport and birth certificate. The lady that worked in the local office knew exactly what we were ther for. We actually went there after only one week and it was not an issue. My now wife received her SSN card a week later. Then after we were married, we went to the local office and applied for a name change SSN card and she received the updated SSN card a week later. We were reminded by the SSA clerk to come back when the green card is received to again update the SSN card and then again when the 10-year GC is received. It definitely helps when the local SSA office knows your situation.

After much reading and research no where can I find the answer to a simple question. Does our K1 visa become null and void for SSN purposes after you marry in your 90 day period? Or does it remain in effect until it expires after the 90 day.

Your k-1 visa is a one time use. So after you enter POE and immigration your k-1 visa has been used. When you go through immigration they give you an I-94 that expires in 90 days. So your I-94 is your proof you are legal in the country. You can apply for your SSN# after about 10 - 14 days after you enter the country. They will not let get your ssn# if your I-94 is about to expire. Even if you marry you can still get a ssn# as long as your I-94 is not expired or about to expire. If your I-94 has expired and you have not gotten a ssn# you can apply after you finish AOS and receive your green card.

My fiance and I went to get her SSN today and we had about a two hour wait, but all they looked at was her passport. The woman at the window kept flipping back and forth between the main page of the passport and the Visa page but that was it. She gave us a piece of paper and said the card should be mailed to the house is a couple of weeks.
