In preparation for the dinner, Jobs exhibited his notorious attention to detail, telling venture capitalist John Doerr that the menu of shrimp, cod and lentil salad was "far too fancy" and objecting to a chocolate truffle dessert. But he was overruled by the White House, which cited the president's fondness for cream pie.

Not sure we can claim the "system sucks" by looking at average test scores alone.

It's no secret Black students perform at much lower levels than Asians and whites.

How would the test scores look if the demographic were identical across the country?

Was I looking at test scores? I wasn't talking about test scores at all.

I was a teacher in the south. I am talking about the system of education, not the demographics of the people.

By the way, I know your school district, as well, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, where some administrators feel it is better to just get them graduated, no matter how poorly they are doing. Never mind if the students are learning.

I teach online now. I have students twelve months per year. I am sure if teachers want to rally, they are more than welcome to. Whether districts will pay to have students in school another month, that is the question, considering the cuts they made last year, eliminating all teachers who were in the system four years or less.

I won't question your experience but really now... do you think "moving kids along" is something unique to the South, I know from personal experience it was the norm in NJ as well.

No, my only point was the problems of our education system across the entire country exist with unions or without unions. That was my only point. I am not talking badly about the South, the North, the East or the West. One good thing that North Carolina is doing is encouraging a lot of virtual learning, and I think this is a very successful endeavor.

Blacks are suffering from social dysfunction, if any groups had the same number of fatherless homes, fathers in Jail, lack of skills and education due in part to the drop out rate, they too would be devastated.

In fact we see the same ting (though to a lesser degree) with whites who are raised by single mothers are way more likely to be in jail, become pregnant too soon be serious drug users and many of the other conditions which doom not only their odds of their success but their children too.

It's completely possible races have a variance of performance on say IQ tests, but what we so often see is a social dysfunction which does not promote education.

LMAO. I thought teachers taught for the love of the job? Like soldiers who enlist, police who serve and protect, firefighters, paramedics etc etc. They would do it, regardless of pay. It's always about money with teachers.

If they loved money so much, they would be in another career, like a stock broker or a lawyer. Teachers are humans just like anybody else. If you choose to have the perception that they are angelic, well that is your choice.
