This is a site for people immigrating to the US (and this forum is specifically for Canadians moving to the US). You might want to try this site instead http://www.roadtocanada.com/forums/index.php it is for people immigrating to Canada. Also the Canadian citizenship and immigration page has pretty good and clear information on it http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

From the little bit of research I have done on it (as we are considering moving back to Canada) you will need a FBI background check (which can take 16-20wks I think) as well as background checks for any country that you may have lived in for more than 6 months. You will need to send a copy of your passport page with all of the biographical information, your medical exam, proof of your relationship to your sponsor and immigration photos (these are not the same size as passport photos, so you will have to get the info off the CIC site for the proper size specifications and take them with you to the photographer. This is on top of all the application forms, proof of identification and marriage/divorce documents.

Thank you for that Info thank God I found out three months before going and not when I wanted to submit my aplication. I really appreciate the help. I just had one last question the FBI check requires getting fingerprints done however most of the police agencies do fingerprinting but not for immigration do you know of alternative places to get this done.

The Commissionaires do electronic fingerprinting for Immigration in Canada but I don't know if they have a way of submitting to the FBI: http://www.commissionaires.ca/national/en/services-personal/personal-fingerprinting/

Without knowing where you are it would be hard for anyone to give you a name of a company in the US.

Iam located In Fort lauderdale Florida and am looking for a way to get an FBI criminal check with the authenticate document of the result. Ive been having some trouble as some of these companies the FBI refer to will not give u an authenticate certificate for immigration purposes. And by submitting it manually I cannot find a place that does finger printing for immigration. most police departments refuse to do it.

Found this on the City of Ft. Lauderdale Police Department website:

Q. How much does a police report, other data, or fingerprinting cost?

A. Effective January 1, 1995 fees for requested documents are:

Fingerprinting:

$15.00 for all immigration fingerprint cards

If worse comes to worst the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's website says they do fingerprinting for immigration: http://www.hcso.tampa.fl.us/getdoc/4b233e66-7815-4216-afad-b2ecd5b9bf1f/Fingerprint-Services.aspx
