The published rates are near $200 but if you go to Agoda.com, you can get rates for $ 100 or less. I stayed there 11 nights and would go back. It's not perfect but I don't think any of the hotels on Mactan reach the level that I am used to in the U.S. Americans are spoiled !

Thanks for the tip. Will check it out.

What about places to eat? Does anybody know of a good place to eat? I know lechon Cebu is really good. I don't intend to get a whole pig but does anyone know of a restaurant that serves lechon Cebu as a meal?

we stayed at the Plantation Bay and we loved it...the place has everything but I suggest only eat there when there is the Filipino fest or something where there are shows and there is buffet hehe coz the food are expensive.... when we explored the city, plantation bay had a service vehicle and driver who acted as tour guide who brought us to all the tourist spots (church and stuff) for a fee...

we usually ate out for brunch at a restaurant close by, the name was Maribago grill..the food was excellent and cheap too!

Hello everyone :)

My husband and I are going to the Philippines this December and we’re planning to go to Cebu and Bohol for a week. I have been to Bohol several times so I have an idea of where to stay and what we will do (though I would welcome suggestions also). I’ve been to Cebu also but mainly for seminars and conferences so I really haven’t explored the place yet. We love the beach and historical places. Any suggestions on where to stay, what to do, etc.?

Thanks :)

I went back in may. Stayed at the Radisson Blu. Really Really nice hotel. I can't say enough good things about it. The SM mall is next door. You can cross the street and go to the mall.

I go to see the Lapu Lapu shrine on Mactan---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MactanShrineStatue1.jpg

The Old Fort San Pedro--Fort San Pedro National Museum---http://philmuseum.ueuo.com/nm_museum/nmbranch/fsnpedro.html

There is an old Spanish home. I think it is on Colon. Can't rememeber the name

Of course you can't not go to the Cross of Magellan and the St. Nino church in Cebu--http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magellan%27s_Cross

And my favorite place in all Cebu. I made my family carry me back. The rice balls and Chorizo are to die for. Wings are the best ever. --https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cebus-LARSIAN-Barbeque/95412234347?sk=wall

The korean own imperial resort tops all resorts in mactan. best place to stay cheap on mactan is lancaster condo. best place to stay cheap in cebu is cebu R. And when i say cheap its also nice not a dump. Marriott hotel is a plus and has alot of western vistors becouse right in the center of cebu and right beside alaya mall. for bohol i rented this spanish villa with pvt beach down to ocean. had fisherman catch fresh crab and lobster and cook it for us. can't beat that. good hotel in manila for interview cheap price. buy two nights get one free is tropical mansion. it's right beside saint lukes and three blocks away from embassey. I have made 5 trips to philippines so been all over. My faincee is travel agent in cebu so she know about alot of places. If you ever wanted to see wild monkeys and can walk up and feed them, their are plenty in calatrava close to san carlos. simple 5 hour trip from cebu.

CnT lechon in Guadalupe. If you're planning on going there, go as early as 11AM because they run out pretty fast (or you're left with not-so-good parts). There's a newer lechon place called Zubuchon. They have a branch in Escario and another one in Mango.

It's not very edgy or anything but I really like Golden Cowrie. It's a sit down restaurant that serves "native" food and it's quite tasty. I don't believe they have Lechon as a meal but I think they do have Lechon Kewali on the menu (although it's totally not the same thing). I'm pretty sure they have other locations but the one I've eaten at is in SM. I'm sure at some point you'll find yourself in the mall so you should try it out :) MMmm love their sinigang... but then again I love most sinigang.

Have a great trip!!
