Here is a link to the Visa Information page on the Department of State website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1262.html

I don't have any knowledge about how hard it would be for you to get a visa from the Philippines but I know that you will have to show strong ties to your home country which you seem to have, but you will need documentation showing those ties. The website gives insight as to what they would like to see, but I think more would be better.

Go to the US Embassy in Manila's website. There are instructions there on how to apply for a visitor visa.

You will need to show strong ties to the Philippines in order to overcome the presumption that all visa applicants have the intent to immigrate.

The only thing your sister can do to help you is to write an invitation letter and pay for your trip.

Here’s a link on the requirements and other information on how to apply for a tourist visa

http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhniv1.html

Please bear in mind that the US Embassy does not recognize invitation letter from the person you’re visiting in the US. Their issuance of the tourist visa is not based upon the assurances of friends and family members through invitation letters. The decision is based largely on the information provided in the application and the questions that will be asked during the interview. Sometimes they won’t even look at your supporting documents.

I was denied the first time I applied. I had all the necessary supporting documents with me during the interview (employment certificate, bank statement, ownership titles of house and car in my name, etc.) but the consular officer did not even bother to look at them. He just browsed through my application and passport, asked 2 questions and was denied right away. Some friends told me it was probably because I was young, single and never traveled outside the Philippines that made the consular officer think that I will not go back to the Philippines anymore if I will have the US visa. So I decided to travel to some countries in Asia and Europe (it was actually easier for me to get a Schengen visa to go to Europe) and re-applied for a US tourist visa. I was then given a 10-year multiple entry visa. The consular officer who interviewed me on my second try told me that my travels helped a lot and he also looked at my other documents that showed I have strong ties to go back.

It’s not easy to get a US tourist visa but it won’t hurt to try. I think your being a mom of 5 kids and having your own business is a strong evidence to prove that you intend to go back.

Good luck.

Not necessarily. You may start filling out the application form (DS-160) online and bring the bank’s validated receipt of your payment during your interview. The application fee has a validity of one year after the date you actually made the payment so you must schedule your interview within the one-year validity.

Good luck and God bless you too :)

B2 corresponds to Tourist visa, you should be able to see it in the application form.

I've searched that you need to pay $131.00 for each visa application. You will pay the application fee at any BDO, Citibank corporate center branch in Makati. Then you call for an appointment and tell them the receipt number for each applicant. Tell them you like to be interviewed as a family. Fill up and download the application form and bring this together with all the supporting documents on the day of the interview with your passports.
