Passing the POE, how long did it take?

Anyone out there care to share the entry process of IR1, how long did it take to you pass through? Did you have to leave the line to go to another room?

The reason I ask, is that one of the connecting flights where my wife will enter is only 55 minutes and I am wondering if we can make that?

What's the Port of Entry? Is the connecting flight the first or the 2nd entry into the US or a pre-clearance center outside the US? (In other words, where is she flying from and where is she flying to?) If the 55 minutes IS the POE, it will not be long enough. Generally, the acceptable buffer is 3 hours. She will have to go to secondary (yes, another room) to be processed. Unless she is the only person coming from another country during that interval there is not much hope that they can process her in time to make her next flight.

55 minutes? This is probably not long enough, but I hope you get lucky.

Don't forget you have to recheck your bags etc at the FIRST POE in U.S.A. This among other things takes time. Best of luck!

You will NOT make connecting flight, even if your wife was the only immigrant to be processed. All incomming visas are processed in secondary, plus your wife will need to claim her baggage and then perhaps be subject to customs screening. Then she will need to recheck her baggage to her connecting flight.

I would allow a minimum of 4 hours between connections. If she gets done with processing sooner than expected she can be placed on a standby basis with your airline if there is a seat on.an earlier flight.

55 minutes is NOT enough time between flights.

My wife took about an hour to get out of immigration / etc after arrival.

For this trip we are allowing ourselves (4) hours between flights to get from the international to domestic terminal. I do not see a possible way to arrive, get bags through customs, clear immigration, and check back into domestic in under (2) hours. Previous advice of minimum (3) is probably dead on.

Don't forget that doors are closed 10 minutes before departure time to allow for checks and push back requirements.

No you won't, 55 minutes to clear immigration/customs and make a connection is an insufficient amount of time.

You might want to bite the bullet and redo those flight plans.
