So we received our visa. DCF was a very painless process overall. Some details (to dispel some of the board myths LOL):

We did not need a co-sponsor. We demonstrated cash, bonds, etc equal to 4.5X the 125% of poverty (3X is the minimum). We submitted (1) bank statement (month prior to filing I485) and (1) 401K statement (through end of June, quarterly statement) and (1) income tax return, a copy with W-2, 1099, etc. All I did was circle the balance amounts and added them as assets on the I-485. They did not ask anything else about the support affidavit. Months and months of statements were not required. Only one tax return was required. No co-sponsor was required. I do not have a job offer in the US and no employment in the US was required.

Their main interest was do we have a place to settle and a plan. We told them we have (2) vehicles in the US registered and insured and we would initially stay at my parents. They asked if this would be our permanent address and I said likely no. I said we would most likely end up in Houston or New Orleans because that is where the (current) open jobs are. They seemed OK with that.

As for my wife they really didnt ask her anything. We brought them all the USCIS ####### from our first adventure and summarized it for just a minute or two but they didnt really read it. I130 receipt, I129F receipt, I130 approval, I129F approval, old passport with K3 visa, EAD receipt, EAD approval, I864 receipt, welcome to america green card approval, and consulate stamped letter for turning in green card as well as a jillion stamped fingerprint receipts (we have never successfully executed a fingerprint check - the FBI has rejected them every time so we have (3) receipts and (3) rejections).

I doubt they thought from all that stuff that we were in some kind of 4-year marriage of convenience. They asked a couple of questions about our daughter - how old (2), where born (overseas) etc but not much else since she has US passport / Consular report of birth abroad and her immigration status was not an issue.

We are looking forward to going home in the next few months and wish the rest of you good luck on your journeys.
