Liberal environmentalists in Vermont have "Occupied" Lowel Mountain to block the construction of a wind farm by Green Mountain Power. They have been ordered to leave but remain in place. The wind turbines, they say, will spoil the view of Lowell Mtn Ridge and kill wild birds.

Liberal Democrat Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin is at odds with the state employees union after 70 of the members have demanded they be paid double time for work during the Hurricane Irene emergency. State workers that were sent home during this period due to unsafe conditions were paid for their regular work under emergency rules. The union members that had to work as essential employees are saying they should be paid double for actually having to work. Shumlin has said they are "greedy" and should not demand double pay during an emergency.

Shumlin, who's net worth is estimated at $10 million and frequently vacations at his beach house in Nova Scotia, and his fellow "1% ers" should chip in with higher taxes, say the union members

That shite drives me up the wall. Same in Germany. There are wind turbines everywhere now and I don't find it all that disturbing in terms of the view. I mean, what do you want to look at? A quiet and clean wind turbine - even with a few chopped birds underneath - or some smoke plume from a coal fired plant? You know, all that smoke ain't enhancing the view either. At the end of the day, that power you expect to come from that wall socket ought to come from somewhere.

Despite the huge number of bumper stickers, Vermont has no power from renewable sources except for private projects. Green Mtn Power has proposed this windfarm and several "biomass" power plants (wood chip fired) and all are being challenged at every level by environmentalists

In the meantime we depend on imported hydro power from Quebec from dams built on land taken from native Americans and flooded to create hydro dams. Oh, and Nuclear power from Vermont Yankee and a coal plant in Burlington.

We get what's called "hazard pay" if the work being performed is done in conditions and/or working environment that is deemed unusually hazardous and outside of the normal real of conditions... which is essentially double time.

If the suits have a problem paying the union members who worked in these conditions double time, then maybe they should get off their ####### and out from behind the desk and perform that work in those conditions. Apparently they deemed it dangerous enough to send the state employees home.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Never happy even when they get what they think they want. Enviromentalist and animals rights are fighting each other in California over the issue of birds being killed by the wind turbines.

* They demanded wind power because they hated the thought of energy from long ago dead animals and plants.

* They got the wind turbines as demanded, but they now complain they ruin pristine views and kill endangered birds.

* In the '70's they screamed that cutting down trees to make paper bags was bad for the environment. They wanted

plastic bags instead.

* They got their wish and later plastic bags became more popular verus paper.

* Now they want to ban plastic bags, because they decompose slowly, break down into tiny, toxic particles

that become part of the soil and water and harm animals.

Those fools certianly do their share of environmental harm.
