NVC. Quick Question

I called the NVC today and they said that they received my case but is not in their system yet, that it may take 3 to 4 weeks to be processed.

Is 4 weeks their realistic time frame in to process or is just their script answer?

( this one is an obvious one but just in case) So I get the visa # when they finally process everything and is sent right?

Thanks

Congrats, good thing is NVC has your NOA #2 in their system. Should not take 4 wks from my personal experience. My case got assigned a case number relatively very fast.

The number is a three letter prefix (City of Embassy- number) i.e. ISL - XXXXXXXXX . they can provide this number to you over the phone, once they have it processed. It takes them 2 to 4 days to send the paperwork to the appropriate embassy via DHL. If are signed for automatic notifications when applied for i-129F, then, NVC will send you an update to inform you, case number assigned, and papers off to Embassy. From that point, the US embassy and beneficiary are in contact to complete the k1 process.

Good Luck

I got my case number 9 business days ago and my case is still sitting at the nvc.

That's most likely a standard response they are required to give regardless of how quickly they are processing things. It may not take that long.

No that is the amount of time they think is appropriate before you start taking drastic action. You will get all kind of crazy answers. Keep calling every day. They should process and assign a case number any day now

No. You get a consulate case number. The "visa number" is on the visa, you already have the A number (it is on the NOA2)

Ours was processed in three days

The person you talked to is a contracted telephone operator that has a systme is that is not up to date. Byt the time it shows up in her system it is usually on its way to the consulate (or already there)

Alla will be a citizen next year and our I-129f is still listed as "initial review"

It is a completely unreliable system.

You will get a letter in the mail with your consulate case number.
