Hi all,

How long does it take to get GC by mail? (I landed on Sept 1st 2011).

I travelled out of USA to Canada. Can I go back to USA using endorsed I-551 stamp?

Thanks

Yes you can! Went to Canada twice with just an I-551 stamp and never had a problem entering Canada and reentering the US.

Usually it takes a few weeks to get the GC in the mail, but this varies, usually by the POE and how slow/fast USCIS is. Some people get it within a few days, others a few weeks, and some people have to wait a month or two. But honestly, don't fret about this as the stamp in your passport acts as a temporary green card up to one year. Because of this, yes, you can get back into the US with the I-551 stamp as it's your green card.

Will it only work to go between Canada and USA with an endorsed I-551? or that is OK if I come from any other country?

Thx for all of ur answers

It's okay from any country as you would have been using your green card to enter the US if you had it. But the stamp is pretty much the same thing, just temporary.

Yes. It may be referred to as "endorsing the immigrant visa" and it has the same effect - it's as good as a plastic green card, for up to a year.
