NVC K1 Processing Times ??

OK, we just went through the (almost) 4 month wait to receive our NOA2 which seemed like torture LOL. Now we're wondering what's taking the NVC so long -- or are we just being impatient again? It's been 3 weeks today since our NOA2 (9/30). I called the NVC and they did tell me that it was entered into their system on 10/17/11 and that "they typically don't hold them too long". How "long" is long? LOL

So, I'm posing the question:

How long does it typically take for the NVC to process K1s and get them sent to the Consulate? I see a lot of people's timelines state approximately 10 days ... why so long for ours? Just wondering and would love some feedback from all my fellow VJers on how long yours took.

Well, we were put into AP on our K1. We were there for over 7 weeks.

Everybody is different. Everything seems to be going smoothly. According to your time line the NVC received your paperwork on the 17th. Today is the 21st.You need to relax a bit.

We waited over five months for our NOA 2 so almost four is "really" good! Our NOA 2 was on 4-5-11...the NVC received our package on 4-12. They sent it on to the Embassy on 4-15, so the NVC had it for three days. They will send it on soon, no worries. It moves a lot faster now...thank goodness. Good luck with everything and God Bless.

Thanks Ben and Jill! The NVC moved very quickly for you! I know we just need to be patient (like we haven't perfected that at this stage of the game so far! LOL) It's just you tend to get a little "antsy" after waiting for the "longest stage - the NOA2 approval" along with everyone saying it moves much faster at this point ~ which I guess is all relative

Yes, the wait is really, really hard. I think back about the whole process and I feel the waiting for the petition approval is the worst part...it just feels like foreverrrrrr. Dan and Jenni made a very good point...if it's been logged into the system at the NVC, you should have your case number

That's funny Dan and Jenni! and do you know that I have called them twice this week checking on the status (yes I know - patience is a virtue!) because the automated system tells us nothing and not once did I even think to ask if a number had been assigned! LOL

All this time I thought the case number didn't get assigned until it left NVC for the embassy! So your posting actually prompted me to make a 3rd call and lo and behold - yes we have a case number! Sometimes we can get tunnel vision with these processes! I feel a little better about that now so thank you! Also, just in case anyone else didn't know - the lady at the NVC said you don't receive any information from the automated system for K1s. Now I wonder why the other 2 people I talked to didn't mention that before? I even specifically asked them if that system would be updated with our case number info once it left the NVC and they both said "not always". Hmmmmm . . . Many lessons to be learned here on VJ!

Call them, speak to a live person.. They can instantly tell you when your NOA 2 reached NVC and what the case # is. Their email automated system is running a week behind to notify petitioners.

Documents just arrived PK Embassy today. My fiance should be getting her papers from embassy by end of next week. Frankly I have been very happy w/ VSC and their response time to my questions

Do this.. send a scanned copy of your NOA2 to the following address:

NVCResearch@state.gov

provide Beneficiary Name / DOB

Your Name / DOB

Ask them to investigate where in NOA 2 approval in the system

Will get an answer to you.
