I recently received my NOA2 stating that my application for finace visa was accepted by USCIS. So I decided to do some research on what would happen next. The next step is the application gets forwarded to the NVC and then the NVC mails the form and info to my the US embassy listed in my application.

This is where the problem lies.

Since my fiance lives in Hyderabad, I listed the US consulate in Hyderabad on all my application forms. I didn't realize until just now that the Hyderabad office doesn't process K1 visas (or any immigrant visas). I am thinking that my fiance is in jeopardy of not receiving her paperwork so she can begin the application process.

Does anybody have experience with this type of situation?

I contacted the NVC and they haven't received the application from the USCIS yet as of two days ago. I have contacted them again explaining my situation and asking for guidance.

If anybody can provide me with any type of guidance it would be greatly appreciated.

I think what typically happens in cases like these is the NVC will forward your petition to the nearest Consulate that does process K-1's. For example, people who live in Mauritius, the US Consulate there does not process K-1's either, so those are all processed at the Nairobi Embassy in Kenya...same as Uganda, those are processed in Nairobi as well. I really don't think you need to worry too much...I'm sure they will forward it where appropriate. Your fiancee may need to travel to wherever it is sent for her interview. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. I'm sure all will be fine. Good luck with everything and God Bless.

I believe Ben and Jill is correct. I am of the same thinking that it will be forwarded to the correct consulate and you shouldn't have to worry! :)

I made that mistake also. When i realized the proper consulate was in another city, I called the USCIS number, spoke to a live person, explained to them what happened. The proper course of action is to mail a letter to the CHANGE of ADDRESS -- address provided on the 1-129F form. Explain to them the mixup in writing.

I received a letter in the mail -- NOA 1 update to inform me, the correct city was now on the file for the application.

Total time - 3 days

I-129F Sent : 2011-07-06

I-129F NOA1 : 2011-07-08

I-129F NOA2 : 2011-09-29

NOA2 Approved: 2011-10-01

NOA2 Paper Recv: 2011-10-03

NVC Recv: 2011-10-17
