Plzz help??!!!!!!!

I'm a green card holder and currently out of the US country for almost 5months, my concern is what would be the worst case scenario if i stayed outside the Country for more than 6months,which i believe green card holder can only stay outside US territories no more than 6 months w/c I'm not sure off??

i have a bit of anxiety about this..

I really have to stay at my country for emergency reason!

The limit for needing a re-entry permit is one year or more, but you can be questioned at POE about your residence in the US when you return even if you've spend less than a year abroad. CBP officers have the right to determine that you have abandoned your residence for an absence less than a year - though I believe they can't really take your GC away themselves, only a judge can. In any case, if it is an emergency, bring proof of that emergency that kept you abroad with you when you attempt to re-enter the US, and be prepared to show you maintained ties and residence here (lease, insurance, bank accounts, phone plan..)

Little_My pretty much summed it up. The issue is not so much the time itself (though that can obviously be a factor), but whether or not you are residing abroad as you are supposed to be living in America. If this is an emergency, be prepared to present proof of that as well as ties to your residence in America. Emergencies don't tend to happen all the time, so you probably do not and will not have an established pattern of staying outside of America for a long time and so you should be fine.
