personally, if my significant other was in Jamaica, which is few hours from east coast of USA, I would be visiting her once a month and on every holiday, and of course be there for the visa interview. Call me crazy but I would. Going to Kingston or any part of Jamaica is relatively very very cheap for americans.

I did this once before about four years ago.

All of the so called 'experts' always said, ... it's not 'your' interview, it's theirs, and it's really not important for you to be there at the interview.

One of those guys who use to help people along with the process for a couple 100 bucks (not an attorney) ALWAYS TOLD THAT TO EVERY ONE, and, he helped people for about 15 years, and said he'd never had a client denied the visa.

OTOH,... emotionally, I'd think it would be one of the more important days of your/their life.

I went, the first time.

But, I don't think it had anything to do with visa being denied or granted.

I think it was my impeccable preparation.

And, ... I'm sure I will be there this time, as well.

Wouldn't want to miss it.

And, now that I know what it is like for that day, I think it will spell relief for her, for me to be there with her.

07/27/2011...........NOA1 received.

12/05/2011...........RFE received.

12/13/2011...........RFE response sent.

12/16/2011...........RFE RESPONSE received by Vermont S.C.

12/22/2011...........Teased by a text-message from uscis, saying they have received my response to the RFE.

12/30/2011...........LA VISA APROVADOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

01/12/2012...........Case Sent To Bogota Colombia, from the National Visa Center.

02/09/2012...........Schedule Interview.

03/23/2012...........Interview (to take place then)!

04/07/2012...........Arrived in USA.

07/01/2012...........MARRIED!

What next?

.......How the days DO slip away!

Could not agreed more.good.gif. I would CRY like a river if he doesn't come,LOL. Just kidding.tongue.gif. I think am okay going to interview without my other half but seeing him around me at important moment would make me feel better and give me a courage. After all, he agreeing to come and fly out go to my country at interview time. We already discussed it, and he insists to come even I've already told him that it is not mandatory.cool.gif.Maybe that's why I could never let him go away from my heart.heart.gifheart.gifheart.gif

I been on this website now since june and i have gone back to 1996 researching other peoples journey with the k-1 visa. I went and it turned out to be the best decision ever. I was there for the experience, the support, the help and becuase that is what we both wanted. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise I was there because he could not find my 2010 tax returns so since he told the IO he knew it was there jsut too much info on the packet and I was outside waiting they gave him an appt. one hour later and the IO told him to go outside, find them and come back with them at 1:30. He came out. Told me the deal. I pulled them out of the massive file, gave them to him (they had slid down in the file) We chatted and waitied for 1:30 and he went in, 10 minutes later the nice guy at the front desk told me to go inside. I did, then he pointed to the DHL window and to go meet my fiance there. Approved! That would not have happen if I was not there at the interview and we got very very very lucky that even happened while I was there. All I can say is it worked wonders for our experience and situation and they definately knew I was outside waiting.

LOL DWL @ your quote  ...but seriously, I went to Jamaica a few times this year to see my baby, so I didn't have any plans to go there for his interview. The same money that I will use to travel to Jamaica to be there with him for the interview, is the same money I can use to pay for his plane ticket to come here. In my case, he is coming here as soon as he receives his visa. Maybe if he was going to wait to come here after receiving it, I would consider going there for his interview.

Plenty of people have been approved and the petitioner was not at the interview. In past years at the Kingston Embassy it was almost a requirement that the petitioner go, however some did not go and still the visa was approved... In 2010 they changed the rules and now they will not allow the petitioner in the embassy, so if you go you have to wait outside. I think it can help if something is missing, as they have US Citizen hours where the petitioner can go and ask questions or submit additional evidence as was the case with Erica... the main thing is the amount of evidence of ongoing relationship and the beneficiaries ability to answer the interviewers questions confidently and honestly.

i fully agree about having the money for the interview and everything else but the situation with ericanmark said is exactly what i thought about when i booked my ticket. there is another member here whose fiance went to the interview an forgot a simple piece of paper and they put off his interview for another 6 weeks!!!..plus my man dont know what a tax return look like and gave him 3 copies.,so i cant take that chance...lol!!! i do know that they dont permit the petitioner in the interview but you just never know.

Mark said they never asked him for any cell records, money transfers, wedding webiste, save the date, facebook, email or much of any proof and just pulled out 3 of the 500 someodd pics I had origionally sent with the petiotn and he never even took out the duplicate or new photos I supplied him with and asked him a few questions regarding where we were and who we were with and when. But for some people they do ask for that stuff. But I think they saw it all in the origional packet I sent in so maybe that is why they didnt ask. I know the 2 cr1 people got blueslipped for that because one brought no pic and no cell records and must not have included with the origioanl petion for some odd reson. Ans the other coupe had literally over 300 wedding phots that the wife let me look at, then the husband came out to get them (no idea why she had them) and also the cell phone records. All she has was the bills that showed no actual calls between them and also lime top ups, but since no records I guess that does not proove that he used the top uops to call her. So I told her how to get the cell records as we both have TMobile. As for the pics they told her that they needed to take the ones of just them together and make an album? She also did not provide her passport which they needed. But I was sitting there after the fact thinking she has to have had the origional passport on her or she would not have been able to get into the county??? But you can see every case is different. So jsut prepare for EVERYTHIG and having more is better then not having what you need. It is better have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
