Check the visa bulletin on travel.state.gov - they give advance notice a month ahead for DV visa applicant - you need to follow the published numbers and see when your number comes up.

You need to read what it says before that chart. Chart gives the cutoff for the PD numbers (2012AF....) that they will work on in the specific month. If your number (Nigeria, in the special section of the chart) is current = your number is 16000, the chart has to show 16000 or more, then you can expect interview in that month. Interview notice will appear in the dv entry form check website where you found you out you were a winner. You may also get an email saying that but do check the website as well using your special code.

I have gone through the Visa bulletin thoroughly. I think i now understand it well. Currently,the visa cut-off for dv 2012 for my region (NIGERIA) is 10,000 and next month is 12,000 wch means that for my case number 2012AF00016... My interview my be next year March. PLS WHAT ARE THE DOCUMENTS THAT WILL BE REQUIRED OF ME AS A UNIVERSITY STUDENT. Thanks as i wait to read from you.

You will need your birth certificate, your will take a medical just before your interview, you will need proof of meeting the educational requirements, and you will need to either prove that you can support yourself or that you have a sponsor in the US that will guarentee that you will not be a public charge. You should also start to think of where you will stay in the US as they ask that on the forms. You may feel more comfortable moving to an area where there is a large Nigerian population if you don't have family here. It will allow you to find comfort items like yams and garri easily.

Thanks for all these informations. 1.Do i still need a sponsor for dv greencard lottery? 2. Truly, i have no family in the U.S but a friend got me his uncle's address to use of the form because they didn't mention it on the form that i need a sponsor. 3. Wch areas do Nigerians mostly reside in the U.S?

If you don't have savings to show that you will not become a public charge you will need a sponsor ,although not manatory it is good to look for one early if you think you might need one. Nigerians are all though the US but they are in large numbers in the New York City area , Washington DC, Alanta Georgia, Houston Texas and Las Angeles California.

You will be asked some things about your schooling. At times they will ask you some question about your type of study, like a math major might be asked to do some math ( people are known to produce fake school papers in Nigeria ) You may be asked things about your plans in the US and things in your papers. IF you suddenly get married now you will be asked a LOT about the marriage being real. The biggest thing to remember is always answer the truth.

In your forms you specified ur email. They will send you an email directing you to www.dvlottery.state.gov, with your confirmation number you check again, what will open this time is your interview letter
