Can you think of a way for a government to respond to something new without the creation of a bureaucracy? I don't have you pegged as one of those "lets privatize everything!" people so I'd love to hear this.

I don't see it as new bureaucracy vs. privatize everything. I think we could have accomplished a reasonable response utilizing the existing security apparatus.

Pat decries the 'browning' of his 'Amorica' does he not? Pat clearly fears and decries the loss of good old fashioned white Christian supremacy. And in so doing he crosses a line implying there is something wrong with my family, as well as myself, and my children are less American by simple virtue of skin tone. I perhaps chose to address just one area I found Pat to be a completely wrong loser duesche but he is wrong enough on this alone to render any other criticism of his assinine book redundant.

When ever you try to make it a personal thing with your family you loose the intellectual and veer to the emotional.

I'm sure you have a nice family and all that, the point being made is, Unreasonable immigration has upset the ethnic make up of the country, it will not cause us to be better but rather more unstable and fractured.

Your spouse of from country X, do you think that country would rejoice if mass immigration displaced their native people within a few decades?

If people in large numbers changed the language traditions holidays and ethnic make up.. without them even having a say?

I doubt it.

Would it be because they "fear" the hair texture of darker pigment of the new comers?

Or because they like the ethnic makeup they now have?

Where's the proof? Why are you so convinced that it is disparities of race and creed that foster instability, and not (as your signature suggests) class division?

Who are America's natives, Danno?

I was hoping you'd make a case that supports any of these nonsensical claims. But that hasn't happened. Let me tackle two items here - the low hanging fruit, if you will.

I don't subscribe to any faith and yet, I do know quite well what's right and wrong. Not that it would ever get through your skull but it doesn't take faith or religion to know right from wrong. Not sure why anyone would ever buy into or peddle such obvious hogwash.

Notice also that the government workforce has been shrinking relative to the size of the population and total workforce. In 1950, approximately 1% of the population worked for the feds. In 2000, a little over half a percent have been working for the feds. Relative to the total workforce, those numbers would be 2.3% in 1950 and 1.25% in 2000. Now, there's been a tiny spike on the federal level post 9/11 when the GOP created vast new bureaucracies to keep us all safe from them terrorists. Still, even with this vast new bureaucracy, only 0.7% of the population worked for the feds in 2010 and only 1.3% of the total workforce. Still much less than in 1950 and certainly less than in 1970 when these proportions peaked at 1.1% and 2.7%, respectively. But keep telling yourself that an ever larger share of the nation works for the government. Facts have rarely ever mattered to you and yours.

Thanks for a little substance to work with.

-You highlight your perfect ability to form and hold morals all on your own without the need of religion, no reasonable person disagrees with that, but your comment highlights Pats very point.

We are fast becoming a nation which con't even agree on what is moral anymore precisly because we are all splintering apart on these important questions where as in the past we collectively held common ideas about such topics.

Pat is not a putting you or the Muslim or the Atheist down for your beliefs, he simply points out in this book how these differences added to other issues will reduce this nation to a squabbling country made up of diverse factions all competing for the governments attention in legal matters, hand-outs, jobs, etc.

I appreciate your questions but since your replies to mine never amount to much more than some silly line,

I'll give you the same consideration.

They're genuine questions, Danno.

Not that your suspicion of them is surprising. They do, after all, ask that you attempt to substantiate your rambling, sectarian (il)logic.

Even if we were to accept at face value the "decline" you cite - correlation does not imply causation. Why monoculturalism ought be a prerequisite for any of the examples you describe (and why multiculturalism should necesarily contribute to their degradation) is an argument you and your fear-mongering cohorts continually neglect to provide.

In some cases it does. Due to the influx of immigrants from third-world countries over the past three decades, more children now live in homes where English is not the primary language (17 percent of all children today, compared with 8 percent in 1980) and come from poor families with weak educational backgrounds.

Of course, multiculturalism is not the only contributing factor, but it's equally dishonest to dismiss it entirely.

Common ideas on what topics? That it was a right to have slaves? That women can't vote? That people of different color cannot marry? That black folk can't share a water fountain with whites? There have always been people differing on these issues and on any other issue. The US has not ever been a place where people agreed on what is right or wrong. Dissent and debate are and have always been part of America. And that won't ever change.

Danno you are clearly mistaken if you think the founders of this nation, let alone the general population at the time, were in some sort of mythical agreement on every issue, only followed a single version of Christianity and attended a single unified Church etc.

If I find Pat's lamenting of the browning of his Amorica offensive it might just be because it is. That you don't see that is hardly surprising though.

No one suggested all was peachy, in fact the biggest troubles came when too many came too fast.

Name for me the "brown" country which would welcome a flood of whites which demand the "browns" adjust to them... which expected the browns to safety net them,

Where is this country that would by plan surrender their language and traditions?

which would allow these new comers to discount their national heros and holidays laud theirs.

Tell me.

Culture. I'm trying to think of a brown country that isn't 3rd world or borderline 3rd world and I honestly can't think of any.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."
