I grew up in a mixed race area and remember those qualities in all kinds of neighborhoods, regardless of ethnicity.

Mixed race is not the same as multi-cultural. You can be any race and still be part of a culturally homogeneous and cohesive society.

When I was a kid the worst thing we had to worry about were the micks. They were Catholics in a Lutheran town. Other than a few Catholic micks and a bohunk family central europe...it was pretty much like "Leave it to Beaver".

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

-The decline of Christian faith has added to a mass decline cohesive sense of what right and wrong even means.

Right. Because only Christians have a sense of morality.

The rest of us are all heathen barbarians who don't know from ethics.

Your making this too easy Sofiyya. Were to start? Crime rate, race riots, education disparity, average child per family, income per family, religious hang ups...I mean seriously there is no way this is going to come out good for you if you press this issue. You would have better luck nominating HAMAS for the Nobel Peace Prize.

*Know when to pick and choose your battles. :)

Know when to pick and choose my battles? You live among a Native Alaskan population that you despise, but you won't get off your a$$ to move among the Whites you so love. I'm not the complainer here. So, who's not motivated enough to act on their beliefs? That would be you, bro.

Sorry you missed that ball, let me throw again. :P

It has nothing to do with what the faith is, it has everything to do with faiths that clash sharing the same local.

THis is why all of our traditional holidays have left the schools and now work places.

Don't have the numbers in front of my but I would bet in 1960, this country was 95% Christian of some sort... what that means is people will naturally sing Christmas carols acknowledge the reason for Thanks-giving and as a nation we could even be led in prayer by the President.

THe point has nothing to do with WHAT THE PREDOMINATE FAITH IS, the point is, the farther apart people are in these things the more conflict prevails.

Introducing wildly diverse people together just does not make things better in most regards, we get what we see before us now... millions spent trying to convince everyone we are somehow better off.

Pat doesn't think so. He and you seem to think that the only good race is the White race, so, yeah, being culturally White (whatever the hell that is) is the only acceptable manner of being homogeneous and cohesive. It goes against history, since White Europeans are not homogeneous nor culturally static anyway.

Pat has wrote thousands of columns post the one which says only white are good.

You are angry at whites because they have built societies the Muslims can't seem to get enough of.

I'm only living here so she can finish her dental program thing...that's supposed to be finished by no later than July/August. As soon as she's done with this dental bs, were heading back to the Valley / civilization (Wasilla/Big Lake).

Rednecks driving lifted 4x4's with a dog or two in the back and a McCain - Palin bumper sticker. I'm homesick... :crying:

I'm not angry at Whites. There are lots of White Muslims. If White societies are so great, why are you so unhappy?

I missed nothing.

Regarding statistics, in 1990 86% of Americans identified themselves as Christians. In 2008 76%. That's a 10% decline in 18 years.

(Source: http://b27.cc.trincoll.edu/weblogs/AmericanReligionSurvey-ARIS/reports/ARIS_Report_2008.pdf)

While a decline, 76% is still a comfortable and large majority of America.

As a non-Christian American I am well aware of the Christmas tree ceremoniously lit each year at the White House, and that every one of our 44 Presidents has identified himself as a believing Christian. And I don't have a problem with any of that. I honestly don't know what you're complaining about.

As to multiculturalism and tolerance for religious and cultural minorities in America, I think I'll let George Washington rebut you and rebut Pat Buchanan. Here is Washington's address to the Jewish community of Newport Rhode Island in 1790.

To the Hebrew Congregation in Newport Rhode Island.

Gentlemen,

While I receive, with much satisfaction, your Address replete with expressions of affection and esteem; I rejoice in the opportunity of assuring you, that I shall always retain a grateful remembrance of the cordial welcome I experienced in my visit to Newport, from all classes of Citizens.

The reflection on the days of difficulty and danger which are past is rendered the more sweet, from a consciousness that they are succeeded by days of uncommon prosperity and security. If we have wisdom to make the best use of the advantages with which we are now favored, we cannot fail, under the just administration of a good Government, to become a great and happy people.

The Citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to mankind examples of an enlarged and liberal policy: a policy worthy of imitation. All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship. It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent national gifts. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.

It would be inconsistent with the frankness of my character not to avow that I am pleased with your favorable opinion of my Administration, and fervent wishes for my felicity. May the children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other Inhabitants; while every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and figtree, and there shall be none to make him afraid. May the father of all mercies scatter light and not darkness in our paths, and make us all in our several vocations useful here, and in his own due time and way everlastingly happy.

G. Washington

We should have stopped with the immigration thing somewhere in between the Irish and the Italians and called it good.

We were speaking pre change in Immigration and pre cultural shift of the late sixties.. yet you pop up with stats from 1990?

Forgive me if I was using a bit earlier time for comparison.

We can agree to disagree, you think we are culturally stronger, I don't think so.

As far as The Washington speech, it is consistent to what I think as well, we are open to compatible immigration, Jews have been an example of that.

MOst of the Jews from what I know came from Europe and Bingo! Similar culture.

Wow, Danno, so much you don't know. Jews were not only considered to be culturally incompatible in my lifetime, they weren't even White until recently. I'd say there is still plenty of discrimination against them, too.
